« on: Thursday 28 July 11 13:53 BST (UK)  »
Please can anyone help I am  trying to confirm information on an ancestor who is meant to have lived in surrey and I wonder if any one has access to the bt phone books for surrey for the period 1926 to 1941.
my ancestor  - george de Mauduit.
He is believed to have lived at -  woking and also at - Edgehill .
If anyone can check these directories to prove that he did live at these Surrey addresses it would be a huge help!
Regards - Luc.

NB: As my ancestor is reputed to have kept an appartment in London during the same period i will post a similar query under London/Middlesex lookup requests.

Can anyone help I am trying to find out if - Guy de Miremont de Mauriac of New York and Guy Montmorecy de Mauriac of New York are one and the same person.

Guy M De Mauriac  is mentioned the diaries if a French cousin I am researching and the entries mention him living in New York in 1915/1916 and later that they went to Guy's parents at Flushing L.I. And that he visisted france  regularily. I believe my cousin's friend should have been born around 1880/1882 and that his father was a prominent member of  new york society.

I looked on the internet and found on ellisisland.org a Guy de Miremont de Mauriac of New York and Guy Montmorecy de Mauriac of New York.  However they could be two separeate persons so  I wondered if any kind person who had access to the US passport applications could find them for me - the information on there should help me trace them further.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.  Regards Luc

Hi Sandra,
You are right Sandra it is the same Griffin /Mauduit family that Johnnyboy  was amazingly able to find the new York newspaper articles last year for me, relating to the Griffin / Mauduit  wedding  and other members of the Griffin family which was a huge help.
The late Professor Boulle  was my  cousin and  is still dearly missed, we both were researching this side of the family and I am now trying to find the missing pieces as there seems to be quite some mystery regarding  this part of our extended family.
I know my late cousin contacted Yolande’s eldest son back in 1999, but they knew virtually nothing about this marriage as sadly it was a forbidden subject and  according to the letter his mother was very frail and had been severely ill for many years at that stage.  So I thought that she probably may have passed away.
I have also been in touch with Marie-Isabelle Hutchings, who is also another cousin several  times removed she was not aware of  the American connection with the Mauduit family.
I know that the Griffin /Mauduit marriage did not last long at all as he  re-married three years later and that his wife Priscilla and their daughter returned to America –  I have not  found their divorce details, but,  perhaps they were visiting the Mauduit Grandparents who lived near Versailles. As our Mauduit cousin had not been living in France for some years at the time of the applications
Thanks Sandra for the info from the applications it all helps fill the gaps in this family jigsaw
My Kindest regards and I have not forgotten   the wonderful  help you gave me over my Scottish/American relatives the Warnkens and Logan. –  Luc.

Hi Shelly,

Thank you for looking it is much appreciated  I believe Yolande is dead - but, not 100 percent sure.

Both Priscilla and Allie are dead I know this for certain.  Is there much infomation held or photographs on    application for amendment of a passport for Priscilla that mentions Yolande and on the application for an extension of a passport for Allie Hancock Griffin?

The application for amendment of a passport for Priscilla sounds very interesting  -what was the date of the application ? - is it  possible to see a copy of this application for amendment of a passport for Priscilla ?

Thanks a lot for you kind help Shelly it is much appreciated -trying to piece information together about these American ancestors of mine seems to be full of contradictions - like being in a maze at times  - kind regards - Luc.

I need help with finding some information about other American relatives of mine –it has been suggested that the information I am looking for might be on the US Passport applications so I wonder if I anyone could help and suggest how I could find the US Passport applications for ancestors of mine -

Priscilla Griffin De Mauduit        ( nee Priscilla Alden Griffin) born 17 Jan 1894 at New York,   United States of America.

also for her daughter - Yolande her parental surname  should be “de Mauduit” or maybe  she later adopted the surname“Griffin De Mauduit”  as her mother did.       born in Paris, France in 1916 ) lived in Washington Dc from around ww1 and later married Major James L. Collins Jr.in 1943 there. (Hopefully the passport will confirm her place and date of birth as I cannot find a Birth certificate in Paris.

and for  her mother - Allie Hancock Griffin    ( nee Almira Russell Hancock) born 10 Sep 1857 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States of America

Any help and suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Kind regards – Luc.
