Monmouthshire / Re: Abertillery
« on: Monday 11 June 18 18:14 BST (UK)  »
Thanks to all for the input but I am still drawing a blank.

I'm doing this on behalf of a friend and I think I can't progress now unless they want to purchase the birth/marriage/death certificates.

Happy hunting!

Monmouthshire / Abertillery

Good morning all  :)

Census records record the birthplace being as Abertillery which, I believe, is in Monmouthshire under the Registration of Bedwellty - feel free to correct me  ;D

I'm looking for Sarah Price whose birth was registered in the June quarter of 1876 or trying to find her on the 1881 Census.

Would anyone be able to help me out please?

TIA

Sussex / Deciphering an occupation
« on: Sunday 21 January 18 02:54 GMT (UK)  »
Would anyone be able to hazard a guess at what this man's occupation was?

He was aged 45 in the 1841 Census and living in a rural location.

There is one other the same on the page with a couple more just the initials F S

TIA

Lanarkshire / Birth Certificates
« on: Saturday 17 June 17 23:10 BST (UK)  »
Good evening all

I have found a birth certificate which I am 99.9% confident is correct.  Can anyone tell me if the birth certificate includes the mother's maiden name?

The reason I ask is I have found the parents marriage but there are three entries, all on the same page, with the same (correct) details for the groom but the bride has three different surnames but the right first name????

If I order the BC and the mother's name is there I will know which marriage entry is correct.

What do you think?

TIA

;D Thank you Ladyhawk.  As both her parents died in the Dewsbury area and one before and one after it will be worth investigating where they are I think.

Ladyhawk and BumbleB

Thank you for all the additional info on James Schofield and his first wife and family.  Clearly Hannah is not buried with them so now I'm wondering if she could be buried with her family, the Greenhough's or Greenough's?

Her father was John William born circa 1870 and mother was Ann Eliza?

Thank you BumbleBee.  The entry was done by James's granddaughter from the second marriage to Hannah so I would think it is correct, but Zilpah may have been known as Jane I suppose?

I'm just looking at whether Hannah could have been buried with her family, the Greenhough's.

Thank you Ladyhawk  ;D

Hi Bumblebee

The Death Certificate shows she died at 58 Healds Road, UD, (Dewsbury).  I've googled the address and it seems as if it was the site of a workhouse.  She died from status epileptias and epilepsy :-(  I presume that is why she was in the "workhouse" although there was a hospital, if not on the same site, very close by.

The home address is given in Morley.

Any thoughts?
