Hi Phil and Claire,
John Newton MARTIN from St Austell was a Surgeon.
His probate records suggest he died in Torquay Hospital 31 August 1942 probate Llandudno 30 November Richard Braginton Johns and Vincent Thompson Solicitors . Effects £28,731 16s 4d.
In 1891 he was in Essex studying, in 1901 he was in Essex practicing.
I have been looking to try to tie this man to cricket, but no joy. When he married Gertrude Millicent MARTIN the daughter or W Clarence MARTIN in New York 7 March 1905 he was listed as Mr John Newton MARTIN of Devonshire.
There are papers at the National Archives re alimony and The Wheal Kitty etc so this is the St Austell man.
