Hello Rhiannon
My research goes back to Humphrey Mark c1699 to 1788, Griffith Humphrey 1758-1829,  Richard Griffith 1797 to 1877 (Margaret's elder brother), then John Griffiths 1833 to 1909, then Mary Jane Griffiths 1863-1928, then my grandmother Catherine Thomas 1888-1968.  My dad was John Jones 1910-2005.  Not sure what kind of cousins that makes us  ;D
How do you fit in?

Caernarvonshire Lookup Requests / Re: THOMAS & JANE WILLIAMS burials 1861+
« on: Monday 09 July 18 22:24 BST (UK)  »
Hi Im looking for a John Thomas Roberts who migrated to Australia in 1854. I believe what I read on this chat about your search for Thomas and Jane Williams and I believe that Jane is John Thomas's mother as JT was born in 1818. Could this be right?

Hello Ron
Regrettably my Jane does not appear to be any relation to your Jane.

As far as I can figure out my Jane was baptized in 1790, daughter of William MORRIS.  Her first marriage as Jane MORRIS, daughter of William MORRIS, took place in 1808 to a John ROBERTS.  The children of this marriage all took the surname JONES patronymically upon marriage, including my 2nd x great grandfather.

Jane's second marriage as Jane WILLIAMS, daughter of William MORRIS, took place in 1838 to a Thomas WILLIAMS.  It doesn't appear that there were any children from this marriage.

Sorry I can't be more help.

Thank you to JGDavies and ScouseBoy for the advice.     I have tried searching the reference of the Denbighshire site but it just leads to more tantalizing clues to another document ref and someone called Piers Ap Robert Ap Harry Ap David Ap Howell!  Curiouser and curiouser.  I will try emailing the archivist.  I'm in Canada so not much hope of dropping by!!

Denbighshire / Denbighshire Archives Reference No.
« on: Saturday 27 February 16 00:25 GMT (UK)  »
I've come across a reference in the Archives to a 1605 document DD/WY/807 regarding a Hugh Salesbury and Bodyngharad.   Does anyone know if it is possible to learn from the reference number what type of document this might be?

Any help appreciated.

Hello wilcoxon

I have a copy of the book.  There are no "INCE" names listed in the index.

Going off your description and looking at Google Earth, was it this(Capel Jerusalem?)

Thank you for positing the image Roger.  The facade looks vaguely familiar but it was a very long time ago ;)

In the sixties and seventies, my uncle Arfon and auntie May lived over their shop in Ogwen Terrace just opposite the war memorial.   There was a very imposing looking chapel opposite but I can't remember its name.  They had a long narrow garden backing on to the river Ogwen.    I loved the sound of the river at night after the A5 traffic died down!

Hello

My 4xG grandparents Thomas Carrington (1756-1827) and Jane Foulkes (1759-1847) were the parents of Anne Carrington.   Anne was baptised at Llanarmon-yn-Ial, Denbighshire in 1802.  My connection was one of her older brothers John Carrington (b1795)

Thomas died in 1827 but Jane lived on until 1847.   Jane does appear on the 1841 census of Llandegla, living with another son, Aaron and his family.    Thomas left a will, available on the NLW site - SA\1828.  He left daughter Ann(e) ten pounds - possibly she was still single in 1827.  Anne's older sisters were already married.  Alice (1794-1876) married a David Cadwaladr and Ellinor (Ellen - 1791-1855) married a William Hooson in 1820.

Have you tried the Minera history site for information on Anne's marriage to John Williams?

Hope this helps
Heather
