Berkshire / Edward Albert Curtis - born 27.10.1906 in Berkshire
« on: Saturday 27 August 16 00:14 BST (UK)  »
Hi, wondered if anyone can help me.  I am looking for a baptism record for Edward Albert Curtis.  I believe that he was born in Theale (birth record says Bradfield which covers the Theale area).

Does any one have access to Theale Parish Records at all please - if so I am trying to establish if his parents were Albert & Ethel.

If someone can help, I'd really appreciate it.

Thank you.

Hi, I am trying to find the date of birth/christening/baptism record of a George Edward Bird born 1880 in Shottesbrooke (Berkshire) Uk.  I have found the birth registration and found him on the census records but cannot find a baptism or date of birth.  He died on 30.03.1942 but I cannot find anything else.

I wondered if anyone can help me please.  He lived in Shottesbrooke/Wargrave/Winkfield area and married a Margaret Barker in 1908.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Many thanks and kind regards

Thank you all - I wish I'd posted on here before as I have been stuck for a long time with this family member.  That sounds very positive Claire.t  - must be a sister - highly like.  I could always apply for that marriage certificate to see who Mary Turner's father is listed as I guess.  I just cannot find a marriage for Jane Turner and Henry Atkinson though - they lived in Pancras for many years so that would be the most likely I would have though.  They were obviously living in London by 1876 as Mary married there and Henry & Jane's first child was born 1877 so that will give me an approx date to find a marriage.

Thank you all for your help.

Hi Keyboard 86

Thanks for that, that is a help.  I've been stuck on that couple for months!  Do you have a marriage for them as you said the newly married couple, if so where did they marry please?

Thanks Suffolk*sue too.  Sounds promising and I will investigate it further.  I think 1847 could be more realistic otherwise she would have been 45 when she had her last child which was which old back then I think but 42 more likely?

I haven't found a marriage for them at all or Jane's birth/baptism or siblings.

Thanks for both of your help and a speedy reply.

Can anyone help me please.  I am looking for a Jane Turner.  I have found her in the census records living in London in 1901 and married to Henry Atkinson.  On the census records that I have found it states that she is from Ipswich but I cannot find a birth for her in Ipswich at all or earlier census records.  She was born circa 1844 - 1846 ish according to her death and census records. :'(

Can anyone help me please? :D

Many thanks.

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Harold Walter Denton
« on: Wednesday 09 November 11 21:01 GMT (UK)  »

Can anyone help me at all please?  I have hit a brick wall (and have been stuck on this particular person for over a year now).  I am looking for the birth of a Harold Walter Denton born circa 1903/1904 in Willesden, Middlesex.

I have found his death and his marriage (he married my husband's grandmother in 1929).  On his marriage record it says his father is a James Denton formerly a builder.  He also appears on the 1911 census records, the head of the household is a James Denton (bricklayer) but it lists Harold as a visitor.  I don't think he would be the son as it would mean his mum and dad were 51 when he was born (possible for the dad but highly unlikely for the mum).

I was therefore wondering if James eldest daughter Gertrude (or one of them) was actually the mother of Harold and he was born out of wedlock) and therefore Harold Walter had a different surname at birth but was bought up by his grandparents?????

Does anyone have access to baptism records for Willesdon and could look this up for me, or is it unlikely that he wasn't baptised if he was born out of wedlock?

The only reason I thought his mother could be Gertrude Denton is because Harold then went on to have a daughter who had the middle name Gertrude, so thought it could be after his mother???

I really am at a lost cause with my husband's grandfather and would be really grateful for any help on this one.

Sorry if my suggestions above are a long shot but I just can't think what avenue to go down.

Many thanks.

Hi Margaret

Wow, thank you so much that has unravalled a mystery.  I am trying this tree for my friend, who just so happens to be retiring after 40 years service in the NHS on Thursday and I have been tracing her tree for 3 years for her.  I am presenting her with a book I have made about her family tree, so thanks to you I can now take this back 2 generations further.

Once again, a big big thank you.

Kind regards

Thanks Suzard

He married Jane on the 4th August 1833, at St Gile's Church, Cripplegate, London, so I cannot get the certificate unfortunately.

Thank you for your help though.

Kind regards
