Hi Wendy

Gormersal as you have it spelt is just one way of spelling what is today know as Gomersal, a drive of 12 minutes from Bradford, a drive of 17 minutes from Huddersfield and 18 mins from Leeds.

You may know of this place The Red House Museum (Brontes)this is in Gomersal.

HI again

Just to say if it is the same info then I did find a marrige of a John Mills and Amelia Crosby in Manchester in 1845 which would tally as that was where Amelia was born.

HI

What do you have as the occupation for John Mills?

Was he a Grocer and Corn-dealer

I found them on the 1851 census and there was a daughter aged 11months called Emily one called Elizabeth who was 4 and an Ellen aged 2.

Would this be them?

I can't help any further but could offer this that's all.

Stephen

I take it you don't have the marriage certificate then?

Maybe that should be your next step to be able to get fathers name.
