i think that keeping the originals tucked away is a good idea!!  i have thought about printing a photobook of all the important ones.  it's just hard to organised so many.

i did have a computer failure once so i do now back up everything ;D

i don't mean to make people green!  i am sure i will come across problems but i think its because my families have lived in the same places for many generations.  i just wondered if i am doing the right thing.  Also i am just going back by grandparents then their parents and their etc, haven't gone sideays at all.  should i?

hi

i seem to be finding my research a little too easy and wondered if this is right!  i get a name of an ancestor - say my grandparent, order their birth cert, hence get parents names, order marriage/birth certs and so on.  i am managing to get back on all routes at the moment by 5 generations.  i would like to find out more than just names and dates, perhaps what life was like, etc to give my ancestors character.  does anyone do this?

FH Documents and Artefacts / old photos - what do you do?
« on: Wednesday 17 October 07 13:51 BST (UK)  »
i have literally a few hundred photos from both sides of my family, dating from the early 1900's to the 1960's,  i have started scanning them but i really don't know what to do with them all, they are in boxes at the mo.

should i put them all in albums?  this itself would be hard as there are so many different sizes.  should i scan them all and make a photo book?  can anyone tell me what they have done and if it has worked.  i need to write who/where and when they all are too so future generations know.  i have got most of the peoples names from parents and grandparents!

The Common Room / finding a will
« on: Saturday 02 December 06 17:44 GMT (UK)  »
hello

i would like to see the will of my great grandmother who died in 1957.  Where would i go to find this and is it even possible.

The family story is that she left her house and all her money to a cats charity! ???
