Thanks so much - another example in my family of chain migration.

Thanks so much Shaun. His wife's maiden name was Betsy Chapman so they are probably her brothers or cousins.

Hi Rootschatters,

Could someone decipher this on 2 Aug 1853 in The Argus on  Trove: https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/4795270?searchTerm=%22James%20black%22%20eaglehawk&searchLimits=sortby=dateAsc#    or maybe have access to look it up. Clipping attached.

I can read up until "anxiously requested" I know at least one of their children came out from Scotland after them so would love to decipher it in case it is one of their children.

Thanks,

Sue

Thank you Carol and Gadget. It looks like it was probably Hill House Farm. I wonder if John Fretwell Bramley's father George took over the farm as his father-in-law had no sons that I know of (none mentioned in his will).

Thanks for your help.

Sue

A couple of earlier baptisms for the Fretwell's give their abode as Hill House.

Carol

Could it be Hillhouse farm?

Hi,

Would some one have access to MIs for Wispington? I am hoping there might be some for my Bramley relatives.

Thanks,

Sue

Hi,

Can anyone tell me where the place name Hill is in North Wingfield parish? My ancestor John Fretwell Bramley's parents were living there when he was christened in 1777. There were also baptisms of the two daughters of John and Ann Fretwell of Hill in 1759 and 1763 (John Fretwell Bramley's mother Mary was the 1759 one).

Thanks,

Sue

Essex Lookup Requests / Re: Marriage of Felton WILLIAMS to Sarah ? Around 1730s

Did Felton and Sarah have any children and if so where?

Hi Sue,

Yes, they had at least four children: another Felton, christened at East Bergholt in 1742 and three daughters, who I don't have christenings for, but who are mentioned in their grandfather's will. Another child was buried at Boxted.

Thanks,

Sue

Couldn't find the marriage you were looking for but did find this one.
Rice Williams and Elizabeth Felton
July 2nd, 1706
Brantham Suffolk

A longshot in case Felton had his mothers maiden name as a christian name.

Thank you Sue, yes, those are his parents.  His mother was originally from Boxted. His father was a non-conformist minister, which may make things more difficult. He was buried I think in Boxted.

Essex Lookup Requests / Marriage of Felton WILLIAMS to Sarah ? Around 1730s
« on: Thursday 24 September 15 08:28 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone please help me to find the marriage of Felton WILLIAMS to Sarah (surname unknown)? He was born probably between 1706 and 1714 probably at East Bergholt, Suffolk but later lived at Boxted, Essex, (where there were also familyconnections), and his wife was born around 1714.

Thanks for you help,

Sue
