Occupation Interests / William Dawkins - Sea Captain
« on: Tuesday 15 May 07 12:18 BST (UK)  »
One of my Ancesters, William Dawkins born circa 1831 in Hartlepool, Co. Durham, England, was a Sea Captain.

Can anyone suggest how I may be able to find out which ship/boat he worked on?

Many thanks,

Warwickshire Lookup Requests / Coventry Connection - Crutchley

HELP!!!

I can not find any information on Jack Crutchley.

Jack married my great gran mother Lillian Johnson (b.1914 Blackhall, Easington, Co. Durham), nee Thompson before her first marriage to Thomas Johnson in 1930, Blackhall, Durham. I do not know what happened to Tommy after their divorce either.

I am told that Jack and Lillian were in their 60's when they get married so, that would make it the late 1960's or early 70's. My father was young but he tells me that they married in Blackhall, County Durham.

I do know that Jack spent some time in a P.O.W camp but, I do not know which armed service he was in or anything else.

Jack and Lillian moved to the Coventry area in the 70's.

Jack past away in the late 1970's or early 80's, and I think he may have lived in BEDWORTH nr. Coventry area at that time. His ashes were taken back up north.

This branch of my family tree is a very sticky sticking point for me. So, if you can help me with Jack, Tommy, or Lillian get unstuck, I would greatly appreciate it.

Many thanks,

Jono

Durham Lookup Requests / Margaret Murphy (Daly/Daley/Tiplady)
« on: Wednesday 03 January 07 14:17 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I am searching for any information on my great Gran Margaret Murphy. She was born Daly (or Daley) circa 1906, place unknown, and past away in the nineties in Hartlepool Cleveland.

She had several children with John Tiplady, John (born in Pontefract, Yorkshire, 1926), Robert, Tommy, Bernard, Terry, and Tony but, it is not known if they married or not.

She eventually married a Murphy and had a daughter, Eileen or Ilene.

Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.

Paul

Durham Lookup Requests / Durham - Johnson, Thompson, Scott
« on: Monday 01 January 07 18:28 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there, I am hoping that someone out there will be able to help me with a sticking point.

I am looking for the ancestors of my grandfather Thomas Alfred Johnson, who past away in March 2005. He was born in Blackhall, Easington, Co. Durham in February 1923. His parents were Lillian Thompson (now Crutchley after her second marriage), born circa 1914 also in Blackhall, Easington, Co. Durham, and Tommy Johnson, D.O.B and place unknown. However, I am told that Tommy Johnson is not his real name, that he changed his name to avoid national service and that his real name is Joe Scott.

If anyone can shed some light on this I would greatly appreciate it.

Many thanks,

Paul
