Hi Dave....
No bother ...wish that I could help but my 'Malpass' family were from Cheshire and moved to Burslem......I have not done any more research on the family from when one of the girls married into our family in 1871, so do not know what happened to the rest of the family. If you find a  link back to Burslem and the Malpass family please contact me again.

Good hunting

Hi Migky

Yes you are correct......Thomas Wainwright White was my great grand father....Fanny was his wife....Alice Butcher who was the first placed in the grave was the daughter of Fanny's sister Betsey. Incidentally the son of William Wainwright White had a plot close by and this has his first and second wives buried there, also my father's baby brother.
One day on Roots I saw a  link to Gorton Cemetery and was able to locate some of my family.
FH has kept me busy for a  few years now and revealled a few skeletons .....and given many of my family some good laughs, I have also found long lost cousins and many others researching family members.
One day I'll try to write it all down for the family, sensibly it is all in my FH prog !!!

The Common Room / Adoption.....
« on: Wednesday 19 August 09 10:38 BST (UK)  »
I have noticed on one of my family that was adopted that the ref number has been amended on the official register. This occurs on a  few other entries........I have been researching another member who we believe to have been adopted but there is no amended ref number on her entry.........was she then not officially adopted?
Can anyone help please ?

Many thanks for these postings and links....
Sent me down 'Memory Lane'....I was born at 12A Spital Terrace Gainsborough and within a few weeks moved over the road to 13 Spital Terrace...........left there in 1948.
Only visited the area once since, when Number 13 was being made into flats !!!
My Dad was a member of the St John  Ambulance!!
Thanks for the 'memories'

Looks as if I have found the Unwin/ Chivers connection.

1881 Alfred Unwin cousin of my grand mother was living at Impington with his wife Sarah Matilda ( nee Chivers married 1873) Alfred was a farmer of 10 acres...........so the family story that his land joined Chivers land is a serious possibility. Obviously this needs certs to prove my theory. I have photos of some of the family and stories of my mother and her sister visiting relatives with farmland.

I know that many of the Unwins had families......maybe one day I'll find a contact !!!

Thanks for the tip about the Baptists Anneb. I have never lived in the Cambs area but did go to school  close to Robertsons Jam factory....so know the smell !!!

Thanks Anneb...
The 'family story' says that one of the Unwins married one of the Chivers.........their land/gardens joined. Now we all know that somewhere there could be  a grain of truth .....!!

I have been in touch with a 'Chivers' researcher years ago but we found nothing, as with the Unwin seed family.

Histon aned Impington are VERY close, in fact some of my Unwins were born in Histon !!

I hope that one day I'll find another researcher on my line who can fill in the missing pieces of the jigsaw..........it has worked on other lines.

Thanks Barbara...it has been there for years !!

I do feel rather 'lonely' with the Unwin family.....as I have many contacts on ALL my other lines, having found and met a number of close and distant relatives, sharing our research and helping others.

Fingers crossed that this time someone will reply !!!

Over the many years of FH research I have NEVER found another researcher  working on the above...........
Where are you ALL ?????

My direct line
Martha Unwin b 1842 = Charles Taylor
Her parents...Timothy Unwin bc 1818 = Sarah Ann Miller
His parents ...Nathaniel Unwin bc 1781 =Susan

I have details of the families from censuses etc......they were Ag Labs and Gardeners....no link has been found to Unwin Seeds.......but the family said there was a link to Chivers Jams !!!

I do hope that there is someone out there also researching them.
