Buckinghamshire / Elizabeth ??? King
« on: Tuesday 22 April 08 13:19 BST (UK)  »
Hello,  yet another brick wall,

For several years, been searching for who Elizabeth King,  1st wife of Charles King b. Steeple Clayton living in Aston Clinton  ??

Known Information:

1861 Aston Clinton,
Charles King is married to Elizabeth King  she is 28 yrs old b. abt 1833 in Bucklebury, Berkshire.    No children.

Birth Cert for Fanny King  Aston Clinton Aylesbury  b. October 19, 1866  (Birth registered on Nov 13, 1866)
Father Charles King Farm Laborer   Mother Elizabeth King formerly FORD.

Death Cert for Elizabeth King  April ,1868 in Aston Clinton @ age 36  (1832)  She dies in the presence of/home of Sarah Sharp

After a very short mourning period   ::)  I guess w/ a 2 year old child to care for and you are an ag lab,  a long mourning would not have been a reality.......Charles remarries in Oct 1868 to Rhoda Smith;  they emigrate in 1870 w/ Charles dau Fanny and Rhoda’s son Harry Smith b. 1859.    Have Marriage Cert for Charles & Rhoda  Oct 1868 in Aston Clinton.

Fanny dies in the U.S. at age  5 yrs  11 mos 1 day (from her gravestone) gravestone also says “Dau of C and E King”.  Using a birth date calculator, puts her birth @ October 6, 1866

The unproven speculations,

In 1841 and 1851 Bucklebury, Berks, finding    (possible, Letitia is nee LAVEL/LAVELL m. James Ford in 1831)
James Ford 35   Ag Lab
Latitia Ford 30
Elizabeth Ford  9  (abt 1832)  b. Berkshire, England
Thomas Ford 6
George Ford 5
Fanny Ford 4
William Ford 2
Joseph Ford 4 Mo
Mary Ford 4 Mo       (Twins ??)
In 1851, a dau Charlotte age 8 is included but Elizabeth, Thomas not present with the family and possible that Joseph has died
1841/1851, Everyone listed as b. in Berkshire.

Possible, 1851 Middlesex, Ealing
Elizabeth FORD age 20 unm  b. “Rucklebury, Herts “     maybe " Bucklebury, Berks"  ???     She is a household servant in the Butlin household.      I couldn't find a place called "Rucklebury"

Other than this possibility,  have not found Elizabeth in 1851.

I have searched and searched everywhere but can not find a Marriage between Charles King and Elizabeth FORD.

There are 2 Charles King marriages in Aylesbury in the right time frame,

1) Elizabeth Rolf Sharpe ---   WRONG!!!   Tho' on the surface this looks like a match , I have the MC and it is not.  Charles Father's name/profession wrong.   Development on this Elizabeth for bd etc seem to be all wrong for my Elizabeth as well.    Perplexing as Rolf and Sharp/Sharpe are prevalent in Aston Clinton and are neighbors on both sides in the 1861 census to Charles and Elizabeth.

2) Elizabeth Homan --   have not found anything on her at all.   IGI has her as Homan or Matthews ??? in a member submitted marriage record.   FreeBMD reconfirms the marriage in Dec Qtr 1861.  Charles and "my" Elizabeth are together in April, 1861 census.  Regardless,  can not find any Homan's in Bucklebury, in Berkshire or Bucks!

Possible Elizabeth Ford could have had a previous marriage to a Mr. Homan in another place but haven't found it yet!

Appreciate any new information, help or thoughts!

Thanks so much in advance!

Oxfordshire Lookup Requests / Sarah WESTBURY
« on: Sunday 13 April 08 17:24 BST (UK)  »
Hello,  hoping for some local expertise in finding the family of Sarah WESTBURY.

1851 Sarah  (married to Thomas SMITH, living in Aston Clinton, Buck)  says she is b. 1811 in Fencott, Oxford

From a very kind RCer, I have just obtain her 2nd Marriage Record where her father, Richard WESTBURY is named.

IGI has

Member submitted:  Sarah WESTBURY b. around 1807 Bletchington, Oxford  Father:  Richard

Extracted record:  Sarah WESTBURY c. June 30, 1811 Charlton, Ottmoor, Oxford   Father:  Richard  Mother:  Mary

Hoping I am on to something here as all the areas mentioned above are very close.

On IGI, the only other child I found born to a Richard and Mary WESTBURY is Phyllis c. March 7, 1813 but in Banbury which could be an unlikely stretch.

Hoping to find some leads on
Marriage of Richard WESTBURY to a Mary ??  circa  1810 or before
Additional children of Richard and Mary WESTBURY
Marriage of Sarah WESTBURY to Thomas SMITH b. 1811 likely from the same area but not sure of this.  From age of 1st b. child,  I think this marriage would be around 1830

FYR,  Sarah's husband Thomas SMITH dies 1847-1851 in Buck (exacts not known but likely in Aylesbury/Aston Clinton proximity)  and Sarah WESTBURY SMITH remarries Elizah THORNE in Aston Clinton in 1853.   All Sarah's and Thomas SMITH's children were born in Buck.  Smith children:  George, John, James, Rhoda, Peter, Job, William

Many thanks !!

Buckinghamshire / Harry Smith's Father ???
« on: Saturday 29 March 08 15:14 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for help or inspiration on this one tho' pretty sure I know how hopeless this is ....

Harry Smith Age 2 on 1861 in Aston Clinton  with unmarried mother Rhoda Smith.

I have received his BC w/ bd of March 26th, 1859.   Rhoda did not name the father.

Rhoda marries a widower in 1868 (have their  MC)  and by 1870 they have emigrated and are in the U.S.  Harry Smith takes on his stepfather's surname from that point forward.

Short of a DNA study,  any other way to look for who the birth father might be???

Many thanks for any guidance or ideas   :)

Kerry / Berry's in Listowel in 1911
« on: Monday 01 October 07 00:58 BST (UK)  »
Hello everyone,

I'm looking for information on the Berry Family living in Charles Street in Listowel in 1911 or in surrounding areas.

Anna Theresa Berry came to America in 1911  (corrected) 1909 in her late 80's to join her daughter Anna Theresa Moran living in Kansas City, Missouri. Anna sr was escorted by her son John on the trip over. Her name on the "Carmania" manifest was spelled "Johannah".

Anna sr. lived another 6 years in Kansas City w/ her daughter's family. Her obituary said she was born in Kerry Co. and was survived by 7 children in Ireland and New Zealand. Only her dau, Anna Theresa b. circa 1863 in Scotland ??? and John b. circa 1871 are the only children I know.

Anna Theresa Berry's death certificate says she was born November 27, 1820 but this year doesn't jive with any of her stated ages. She was a widow when she came to the US, her husband may have been named "Jack" Berry.

Her father's name was Michael Lynch b. in Scotland.
Her mother was Mary E. Brown b. in Ireland.

Many thanks!

Lanarkshire / Look-up for Anna Theresa BARRY - Please
« on: Thursday 14 June 07 03:10 BST (UK)  »
Hello,  would appreciate any information on

Anna Theresa Barry  b. June 21. 1866 (???)  in Glasgow   daughter of

Father:  Jack Barry  b. Scotland
Mother:  Anna Theresa Lynch  b. Ireland

This information from her US death certificate in 1941--  so possible,  information not absolutely correct.

Anna (dau) emigrated to the US and married there by about 1881/1882 based on the birth of her 1st child in 1883 BUT she would have been a 15 or 16 yrs old ---   so possible her birth is 2 or more years earlier ???

Thank you for any help given.
