Not sure this helps as never heard of this place either !   But when googled, name appears often from late 1600 as a Reformed Dutch community in Bergen County.    May mean "canoe".

You might try  Rootsweb.com.  (Part of A.....try). You have to register but free.

At bottom left side section, Go to "Message Boards" and follow prompts: Locations, North America, United States, States, New Jersey, Counties, Hudson.

Either make a new specific post or post on existing.
There are people who do burial searches/look-ups for local area cemeteries.

You may have to expand to a neighboring county.  New Jersey is very dense population.  As time progressed,  population moved outward and people who lived close to city moved out.   For example,  my family (Irish Catholics) alternated between living in New York City and Hoboken for 50 years and then died/were buried in Essex County, New Jersey.

Who understands wards ... lol!  Wards are political/electoral divisions.  They often change perimeters with the census or elections.

Any idea what the husband's occupation was ?  Would it have kept them apart for 17 years ?  Or, is it possible he was in prison ?

Hi Ray,  website says documents through 1989. But not explained as to what is covered through that time period so highly likely there are gaps  or omissions.

Maybe Shellyesq can work some magic  :)

What posts of 10 years ago are you referring to?  Note,  Rootschat just had its 10 year anniversary.
Please post your exact inquiry and what you hope to find.
Specific birth dates, locations etc  would help.
Someone may be able to help you if you are less general and more specific.

United States of America / Re: Which Family History Magazine do you read ?
« on: Thursday 09 January 14 16:34 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Sarah,

I only found 3 magazines (may have been more, found under "Hobbies " ) on Barnes and Noble on-line which may be an indicator:   FamilyTree,  Irish Roots and Wild West--- which may be a questionable source for FH.   Many of the mags on Cyndis List are publications by genealogical/historical societies around the country, museums, etc.  IMO, It is a very niche market and not easy to find at a news seller or a supermarket.

B and N (on-line) had about 1100+ books on FH in all formats including NOOK, by comparison.
