Technical Help / CD ROM doesn`t seem to be working????
« on: Thursday 16 July 09 13:57 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I have completly no idea about the technical side of computers so I need some help here.
I have two CD`s with information on Tasmanian records.[I`m lost without them] I normally just click onto the icon on my computer for both these CD`s and up they come onto the screen.
At the moment they won`t come up on my screen. :'( This is what its saying.
Unable to open database in location specified by DBpath in [the CD`s name] Then it tells me that to check the correct CD is in the drive.[which it is]
The same thing happens with my other CD of Tasmanian records. Its never done this before and I never have trouble opening the CD. I also tried a few CD`s with photo`s on them but they also wont open :'(
What is going on. Has my CD ROM died or what.
Any thoughts appreciated. :)

Hi all,

Not sure if she actually died in New Zealand and unfortunatly I don`t even know if Ida would have married and have a different surname but here`s hoping someone may find her for me.
This is only of course family folk lore that she died in New Zealand. My friend has been told that she died in an Avalanche or something similar ???
Ida Janet Jones was born in Tasmania in 1902. Ida was my friends Aunt.
Sorry if it dosen`t make any sense. :-[

Australia / Irish Political Rebels Information Wanted Please.
« on: Monday 16 February 09 07:45 GMT (UK)  »
Hi All,

My GG Grandfather Thomas Freeman was born sometime between 1819 and 1827 possibly somewhere in England. I have no idea where or when.
I have his marraige certificate and his death certificate. His age at marraige was 30 years old in 1857.His age at death was 84 years old in 1903.
It has on his death certificate that he was in the State for 64 years. This State was Tasmania Australia. It also states that he was born in England.

Now through family lore we have been told that my GG Grandfather Thomas Freeman was an Irish Political Rebel who was sent to Tasmania for five years. He was not imprisoned but sent to work on a farm called Noble Farm in Sorell Tasmania.
Thomas lived in the Sorell area with my GG Grandmother until his death. His wife ,my GG Grandmother lived until 1938. He was also married in Sorell.
We know that his death record says he was from England but this could be a mistake.
Thomas Freeman according to his death record would have arrived here in Tasmania in about 1839.
I have found a few Irish Rebels that were sent to Tasmania but none were named Thomas Freeman.
Is there somewhere that I could find records of Irish Poitical Rebels that were Transported. I have searched all the Tasmanian Archives for information about my Thomas Freeman but can`t find a thing. None of the Thomas Freeman convicts were sent to Tasmania for being an Irish Political Rebel.

This is one of my brick walls.

Hello all,

This photo of my GGG Grandparents is a copy of a copy of the original my cousin recently sent to me. Well I hope it is a copy of a copy cause if not the nut has written on the top of the original ::)

What I`m trying to find out if this is really a photo or a painting. My GGG Grandparents clothes do not look real and seem to be painted on. They both died a few months apart ,one in 1896 the other in 1897.
The photo I guess would have been taken late 1880`s and or early 1890`s in New South Wales Australia.

Have now attached the photo ;D
