Hi Lindsay,
Sorry I had not read the earlier posts correctly.

I have several family names that you could look up, to give you an exact list would take quite some time, but family names include:-
Halkerston
Robertson
Arnott
Pirie
Hamilton
Rollo and
Valentine

Anything you have on these would be greatly recieved.

Durham / Jarrow - Stuart's and their Decendants
« on: Monday 13 February 06 00:08 GMT (UK)  »
I am interested in hearing from anyone who has a Stuart in their family.  The Stuart's went to Jarrow in the mid 1800's and were still there in 1901.
I have James Stuart and Mark Stuart who moved to Jarrow between 1861 -1871 and abt 1859 respectively.  They James had 7 of a family and Mark had a family of 5.

Durham / Re: Tweedmouth...which county?
« on: Sunday 12 February 06 23:42 GMT (UK)  »
(I suppose that because of that Berwick must have been an 'isolated' part of Northumberland then!).

Bob,
Berwick was actually a county in its own right because of the dispute with Scotland as to which country it actually "Belonged" to.  For a long period of time, and may actually still be the case to an extent, England and Scotland agreed that Berwick should be a separate "area" under the administration of England.  This is why Berwick is STILL at war with Russia after over 200yrs, When war was declared the statement read "The United Kingdom of England, Scotland & Berwick Upon Tweed," when the document marking the cessation of hostilities was produced the statement read "The United Kingdom of England & Scotland."  Sorry I digress.

Edward b. 1795 was the son of Thomas WELCH and Catherine AVERY.
Do any of the above fit into your family please.

I have come across these people and I THINK they may be part of my family, I would be interested in any info you have.
