Hi Paul,

Have a look and try to find who holds the records for that asylum.  My great great uncle was in an asylum and also was released.

Australia / Re: Australian or Irish/Australian?

Hi Jean and Christine,

I am only 3rd generation Australian but my first ancestors arrived in 1835.  My Grandfather born Victoria 1868, grandmother born 1862 Victoria, my mother born 1907 WA and me 1947.  Basically youngest child of youngest child.

My great great grandfather John Moss built the first pub and brewery in Port Phillip called the "ship Inn",  The brew was known as "She Oak Tops" which grew abundantly on the crest of nearby Bateman's Hill.

Technical Help / Re: DANCY surname and the erroneous returns when you search for it
« on: Tuesday 08 January 08 03:10 GMT (UK)  »
Hi OneBigFamily,

If you search for "Dancy"  that will cut out all the rubbish.  Add genealogy after and you will get mainly family history sites.

Hi Boland,

Try Glasgow Archives (they are very helpful) Quarrier Homes and there was an orphanage for the children of seamen.

Hi Ann,

If they had the same surname then the question of relationship would be considered.  I think it was illegal to marry your first cousin.

Hi Fiona,

I have emailed the Perthshire library to ask where I can find the records.  Now to see if I get a reply.
