Family History Beginners Board / Re: Somoeone died after 2014 but when?
« on: Sunday 05 November 17 21:39 GMT (UK)  »
Many thanks - I have already tried all those methods above - so what next?  Can you contact the registrar of the area and request a search of the years 2014 onwards?

Nottinghamshire / Re: Cockayne Charlotte a mystery.

Hi Lynn, the Charlotte Cockayne who married William Nickerson is a generation before, so Charlotte's auntie.  She is the one who disappears.

Hi Lynn,  I am aware of your great grandmother Sarah and her twin sister Charlotte.  They are my ancestors, so we are distantly related.  Their father was James Cockayne and he had married (2nd marriage) Charlotte, nee Ball, of Swanwick.  James had a sister named Rosetta who he was clearly very fond of as the name occurs several times in the family.  Any Cockayne with the name Rosetta in it are related.  His sister lived on the Isle of Man eventually.
Your great grandmother and Charlotte were born in 1863 in Swanwick and were the eldest of 8 children.  James came next, then Joseph, then John, then Rosetta (died aged 4), then William (my great grandfather) and finally Arthur.  James and Charlotte are both buried in Swanwick Churchyard in the corner near the traffic lights (no headstone though).  James was born in Nottingham in 1816 and was the son of John and Sarah nee Topps.  John originated from Ashford-on-the-water near Bakewell.  I have a photo of what I believe is Sarah, Charlotte and their brother James and his wife Esther (nee Morrell) and each of the ladies is holding a baby, which is probably your grandmother, though I can't tell which one is which?  Sarah married Herbert Barratt in 1886 and Charlotte married William Bradley.  Sarah had a large family, at least 7 children I believe?  Attached is the photo I mentioned.  If you recognise Sarah, please let me know.

Thank you Andrew!  If you have any photos of Cyril or can tell us more about him then we would love to hear from you. He has been a bit of  a mystery to us for some time now thanks to Elsiegees find and her being kind enough to save the documents till someone came forward.
