« on: Tuesday 26 February 08 00:57 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

Just though a few people might be interested in some photo's from the Salford and Manchester areas

http://www.flickr.com/photos/23416534@N05/

Slowly trying to build up a collection as I know how frustrating it can be, when you want photo's of somewhere and can't find them.

Sorry I haven't been on for a while will be back soon hopefully.

If anyone has old photo's of any of the areas, and they would like to send me copies, please PM me.

Debbie

Update:- I have now added the WW1 graves to this site, due to running costs.

« on: Thursday 16 August 07 14:12 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I have recently taken War Grave Photo's for the Manchester Regiment and the Lancashire Fusiliers, with help from other Root Chatters.

Whilst doing these I also have some others, that have come of the Screen Walls, which include Cheshire, Royal Navy, West Yorkshire, Royal Engineers, Royal Army Medical Corps, Royal Defence Corps, Welch Regiment and many more.

Cemetery's covered are

Agecroft
Southern
Gorton
Weaste
Philips Park and
Bury Cemetery (Redvale)

If anyone is looking for a Photo, please post and I will look at my data.

Hoping this helps people who can't get to these Cemeterys, but would like a photo for their Files.

Lancashire / Volunteers Wanted - Manchester and Salford Areas Manchester Regiment
« on: Sunday 05 August 07 14:35 BST (UK)  »
Hi All

I have just done photographs of War Graves in Weaste Cemetery for the Manchester Regiment.

I am about to do the Lancashire Fusiliers, of which there are 71 Graves.

I did the Manchester Regiment due to this site http://www../forum/index.php

Are there any peeps out there willing to do the Manchesters, and then possibly follow up with any others (if they wish) for the following cemeteries, Southern, Gorton, Philips Park and Agecroft.

It is a big task, that I am asking I know, but if you have spare time on your hands, your help would be appreciated.

With the help of the records on CWGC site, it is easier, and if anyone needs any ideas off how to go about please PM me.

Thanks

Debbie

Lanarkshire / Morris in Glasgow
« on: Saturday 12 May 07 00:17 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I am looking for any descendents of a John Morris and a Patricia Wakefield.

There children were Minnie Morris b. 1908, Salford Manchester
Alice Morris b. abt 1909, Salford Manchester and
William Morris b. abt 1911 Salford Manchester.

It is believed that this family group lived in the gorbals, Glasgow and family members say that they died in Scotland.

I am particularly interested in any children of William Morris, although would like to make contact with any children of Minnie and Alice also, as they would be my cousins.

Johns father and Mother were Owen Morris and Mary Macdonald.

Please get in touch if you know, any of the above.

Thanks

Lancashire / Shaws in your tree
« on: Friday 11 May 07 01:14 BST (UK)  »
The Shaw family carried a defective gene which caused mild deformity of the fingers called  Brachydactyly Type 2, if any of your shaws have this can you please get in touch either by PM or posting here.

The defective gene goes back at least 250 years if not more and has been recorded in many medical journals.

The chances are you are related to a cousin of mine, especially if they came from the Lancashire area, but if it appears in your family anywhere, please still get in touch.

Thanks
