Sussex / ENEFER's of Hastings
« on: Thursday 22 March 07 01:24 GMT (UK)  »
Hi anyone out there investigating Enefers of Hastings?

Looking for help re Samuel Enefer b1787, his wife Sara b1789 , daughter Margaret (married a ?? Shaw) and Son Andrew.  Can find them on the 1851 census, but cannot trace them on the 1841.  Have tried every combination and alternate spelling I can think of, but no success.

Also Samuel Philip Enefer b 1896 Hastings (1 of three brothers, six sisters).  Family moved to London. Have Samuel Philip on the 1901 census aged 5 cannot trace him after that.

All help appreciated.

Berkshire / READ's, CLARKE's or POCOCK's
« on: Thursday 22 March 07 01:14 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
trying to trace anyone with interest in the surnames of READ, CLARKE & POCOCK, from the Burghfield, Sulhamstead, Reading, White Waltham and Maidenhead areas..
In particular William Henry Read, b.1885, Reading. Mother Elizabeth nee ? 1st marriage to Walter Read , 2nd marriage to George Lockyer. Lived in the Alwyn Rd area of Maidenhead.

William Henry Read married Mary Jane Clarke (nee Pocock, Romany stock, of White Waltham) in 1906.  Had five children, Henry, Charlie, Alf, George and Alexandra (Queenie).

Two family rumours - that William Henry was killed while serving in the forces during WW1. or that he deserted his wife and children and moved to the Birmingham area.  Second option is consistent with family being split and children placed in homes  around 1918, ergo after service pay ceased at the end of the war.

Any help much appreciated.
