OK that is a pain, thank you for the information.

Is there a nifty way of reducing your search time period to a specific year?

OK, I give up.

How can you find anything with the new search criteria in the newspaper section?
offering me a name and keyword option is not enough.

The dropdown menu of date published seems to give you block ranges and tempts you to narrow it down to a specific day but then does not allow it.

Has anyone written a masterclass on how to tackle the new search method?

I want to see a copy of Newmarket Journal 19 March 1964, page 7 'Burwell has had a library since 1894'

The Common Room / Re: Where is Lily Bliss?

Thank you for your help.

Re: the marriage, the William Bliss named as father on the certificate is her brother, her father died before the wedding. I have photos and newspaper reports showing their 50th wedding anniversary confirming the date and church of marriage.

RE: 1901 that certainly looks possible, and is probable as she changed how she was called many times in her life. I will make of note of it but keep it as probable not proven for a bit.

THank you for all your help.

The Common Room / Where is Lily Bliss?

I cannot find Lily Elizabeth Bliss in the 1901 census, please can someone help me.

She was born 1878, and 1881 census -  Lilly  (Camberwell), 1891 census - Lillie (Waltereton Rd Paddington).
She married Joseph Hadlow in 1906 in Saffron Walden and shows in 1911, 1921 and 1939 as Elizabeth.

Thank you for your time

in 1991 census, Dorothy is shown as daughter of George Edward b1864 (son of George E and Mary Asbee in the 1901 census.  His wife is shown as having no children and married for 3 years, so it looks like Dorothy is daughter of George and a previous wife/girlfriend.

I now have a story to display with the driving licence, thanks for your help

In the 1881 Census Emily is daughter to George and Mary Asbee. By 1901, Dorothy M is recorded as granddaughter to George and Mary.

Her birth record shows her mother's maiden name is Tottman, but I haven't found a marriage between Asbee and Tottman, so no idea of Dorothy's parents yet.
