Kent Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Shorncliff

I've just been searching for the same place myself as one of my ancestors was born there in 1864.  Her Birth Certificate actually states place of birth as Female Hospital, Shorncliff Camp, Elham, Kent.

I completely agree with you Kazza.  I also transcribe for FreeBMD and FreeCEN.  Don't know how long it will take though, we always need more volunteers!!  ;)

I've had the same problem with Hannah/Anna.  We knew we had a relation called Hannah, in all census' she was Hannah.  In 1901 she decided to use her middle name (Mary) whilst she was on her second marriage (which didn't make it very difficult to find her!!!!).  We've just ordered her birth certificate and it actually states Anna Mary.  Not really surprising when none of the family could read or write!   With the guessing of her age at each census AND her marriages it's surprising we found her at all!!!

Waterford / Sheehan's in Dungarvan
« on: Sunday 15 August 04 14:19 BST (UK)  »
Hi.  Having trouble with one of my ancestors due to the parish records not existing anymore.  His name was Daniel Sheehan born 1833 in Dungarvan, Waterford according to his army records.  His father's name was Michael, no idea about his mother.  He joined the Indian Army in Cork in March 1852 and sailed on the "Verner".  Any information any one can add will be greatly appreciated.

I got my great great uncle's death certificate.  He died in 1915 and according to CWGC site he was on HMS Swiftsure, but he was buried in Halling Cemetary in Kent.  Couldn't understand why he was buried here.  It turned out he died from conditions completely unrelated to WWI.
