Hello George,

How strange that you would message me know.

I did find out what happened to Elizabeth this summer.  My dna on ancestry matched with her grandchildren in America!  She had had another baby in 1914 and married a very well off man, it seemed she had quite a life!

I wasn’t sure what happened to James.  I started to look into him and saw that he married Manora and moved to Australia.  I was planning on going through it all to see if there were any living relatives.

I can’t believe their daughter is still alive.

Do you have any information?  Could you send me a PM?

Thanks
Caroline

Good afternoon,

Thank you to Gibel, Shaun J, Jenner and Hanes teulu for the effort you have gone to.

Does the quote mean that this was a better hostel?  I really hope so.

The photo is brilliant.

Thanks again

Hello,

I am helping a friend research her adoption.  We know that her birth mother was living at this institution when she was born in 1960.  The address was 162 Grove Street and she was born at the Sefton General hospital.  Her mother as from Scotland, Shotts, and the baby’s was sent to a home in Dundee before being adopted through their he Scottish Episcopal Church.

I was wondering if anyone local and any memories of this place.  I have learned that it was a Magdalen home and that the records are at the archives in London.  However, I can only find one mention of it online and we’d really like to see what it looked like or to hear from from other people who hav stories about it.

Thanks
Caroline

Hello,

Thanks Dathai,

Yes that is the right family,  I have Catherine Simpson’s death certificate from Scotland and her mother is Maria Fleming and her father is William.

Hello,

I’m here again asking for more help with Irish ancestors.

I’m in Scotland, so we have Alan Robinson born 1896 in cambusnethan, Lanarkshire although the family lived in Harthill.

His parents John Robinson and Catherine Simpson were married on the 8th if January 1891 in Dungarven, Ireland.

I’ve tried looking but can’t find their marriage record.  Also, their oldest son William Simpson Robinson wasn’t born in Scotland.  They also have lost a child but I can’t see any record.

Johns death certificate only has a mother recorded, Martha Robinson.
Is anyone able to help with this family, I’m very interested to learn more about them .

Thanks
Caroline

So how do you know??

Hi,
I got the birth certificate for Alan Robinson who was born in Scotland and that’s what it said for parents marriage details.

I’ve got a bit confused now. Have I made a mistake with where they were from?  Sorry,

Caroline
