Hi Rosie,

I am disappointed in myself really as your method of tracing them should have been one I did myself. Indeed, I had seen this census record but because Julia had been transcribed as Lydia I dismissed it. Should have checked the address!

I will try to be more observant in the future.

Thanks again

Lynda

Hi Rosie,

Thank you so much for all your help. I will look at that 1881 census.  It looks like the family have been mistranscribed several times on Ancestry but thanks to your experience we have tracked them down!

Hi Rosie,

I wondered why I hadn't found that census for Edith before.....when I looked on Ancestry, she had been transcribed as Edith gogue! No wonder I couldn't tie her in!

Thank you so much for finding her for me.

Hi Rosie,

the census you found for Edith I think is the correct one as Thomas Cawte was Julia's brother.
With regard to the other census, I noticed that Henry was a seaman which could explain why I couldn't find him before. It is possible that this is the correct census, although Julia's age and place of birth do not quite match up.  I have her born in Botley in 1831

Hi Everyone,
I am trying to find a family on the 1871 and 1881 census, living in Hampshire. Henry Payne married Julia Anna Houghton Cawte in 1866 in Southampton district. Their children were Edith Mary Annie b.1868, Lily Bessie Rosine b. 1872 and Bertram Frank b.1879. On the 1891 census Julia is shown as a widow and her two youngest children are with her. Her daughter Edith is on a different record, showing her in service.  I found a possible death for Henry Payne in 1885, which calculated his year of birth as 1823. I cannot confirm this as I cannot find Henry on any census.
Julia did not remarry after Henry's death as she is shown as a widow living in Southampton on the 1911 census. No sign of her on the 1901.
Any help would be much appreciated
Lynda

Bedfordshire Lookup Requests / Re: Parkinson family in Maulden
« on: Sunday 29 April 12 19:54 BST (UK)  »
Many thanks for that information bedfordshire boy, it is most helpful.
I have found an Elizabeth Parkinson who married James Cole in 1829 and one of her witnesses was Mary Anne Odell so I think that Elizabeth and John Parkinson must be related.
Thank you for taking the time to help me.

Offer: Parish Registers-Maulden,Wootton,Woburn,Cranfield and Marston Moretaine-
« on: Tuesday 27 December 05 00:32 GMT (UK) »

~~~~~~~~
 Hi,
I have the following parish registers which all go up to 1812 and am willing to do any lookups from them
Maulden
Cranfield
Wootton
Marston Moretaine
Woburn
For a lookup request please start a new topic in the CENSUS and RESOURSCE LOOKUP REQUEST board for this county.
I am posting the above offer which was made in 2005 in the hope that Trisha or anyone else can help me trace the Parkinson family who lived in Maulden and Clophill in the early 1800s.
I have John Parkinson who was born around 1803 in Maulden. He married Mary Ann some time before the 1841 census in Maulden. I would like to know the date of the marriage and also Mary Ann's maiden name.
I do not have any other siblings for John and do not know his parents' names either so if anyone can help me with this family I would much appreciate it.
I have found John with his wife and family on different census records so do not need any info coming forward, just need to go back further if I can.
