Digby Hospital (Exeter City Lunatic Asylum) wasn't built until 1884-86 and was demolished in 1987, and is now a housing estate.

Exminster Hospital (Devon County Lunatic Asylum) which is where Harriett was, was built between 1842-45 and it closed in 1985 and that too is now a housing estate.

Devon Lookup Requests / Re: Marriage for Northam or South Tawton - FURSDON

Sybella
Still looking for this marriage for you. It looks like Maria Fursdon was a witness to the marriage of Mary Ann Fursdon and Thomas Hughes on 15/08/1831  the other witness being Robert Yeoland ( who seemed to have witnessed a lot of marriages) obviously Maria was married herself by this date.
I have a Roger Fursdon baptised at Northam on 01/09/1806.
(Northam baptisms 1789-1806) ) Are William and Grace his parents?

Devon / Re: The "Barrow" ferry, North Devon
« on: Sunday 24 June 07 20:18 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I live in Bideford, North Devon. As far as i'm aware there doesn't seem to have been a ferry by the name "Barrow". However there are still 2 paddle steamers that still operate out of Bideford and Ilfracombe ( further up the coast). The MW Balmoral built in 1949 replaced  the original Balmoral built in 1899 and broken up in 1948, that too may have sailed from Bideford, the present one sails the Bristol Channel and South Wales and i believe is the supply ship for Lundy Island.
PS Waverley built in 1946 is the last sea going paddle steamer in the world and operates today from Bideford. That too replaces the original steamer built in 1899, which was lost during the war in 1940. There is also another paddle steamer in operation which serves South Devon called Kingswear Castle built in 1924. As for "Barrow" do you think this is where the steamer was built?
