Hi Mare

The "living issue" blank on Aner COOK's death cert. is,  ... disappointing ... but perhaps also, interesting ?

Mmmm ... I need to think about this for a bit.

Hi again Julie

Yay, a wee breakthrough  ... that's what we like to see  :)

[ Mk2_Zephyr (nice car  :))  ...  has also supplied the marriage details with Folio number, which you can order from NZ BMD].

Mmmm ... might just have found Harriett and children on their voyage to New Zealand  ~ 1864 ?

Have a look at PROV website ~ "Outward Passengers to Interstate, UK and NZ" .      Type in surname "CAREY" and in the "ship section" enter the vessel "CLAUD HAMILTON".

Ages of children seem to stack up.    Elizabeth ~ perhaps this is Parthenia Elizabeth ?    Alicia = Elicia  ?
What do you think ?    [There seems to be two other children travelling with this group - Charles and Henry)?

Hi Julie

Wish we could find you a marriage for Matthew and Harriet but (as per the reply - 30 November - to your previous enquiry) the only Matthew CAREY marriage to a "Harriett" appearing on the NZ index, was in 1866 to Harriett BAYLIS.

The c.1857 marriage found at Familysearch by "Elfie", which mentions "Datea"  .... seems likely to have been Patea, in the Taranaki district.    [ There is also the CAREY/BAYLISS (sic) marriage listed (as 1865) ...  curiously this also apparently took place in Taranaki ]  ?

So can you give a few more clues ?     The children born in Melbourne   .... do you have dates for these ???

Likewise the New Zealand born children - any dates ?   (IGI shows three daughters born to this couple about 1870 - 1875 and 1877).

Any idea whereabouts in New Zealand, Matthew and Harriett settled ?

Hi Nooshie     :)

Have checked under a variety of spellings and have been unable to find a marriage for your people.

Hi again Jean

re:    William CLANEY    ["CLANCY" ]  ?

At PapersPast, besides the reports in "Evening Post" dated 20 January, 1914 and 15 January, 1914 ....  there was also this earlier mention

  >   12 January 1914  -  "Accident at Railway Wharf"

where this chap has been named as William CLANCY  :-\

WISES DIRECTORY  -  1878-79

>   COOK - Amos* - blacksmith, Brighton

>   COOK - Mrs -  dressmaker,  Brighton

*Amos  .... Mmmm .... interesting     :-\

[I think these people are most likely Aner and Charlotte?
Walter Robert COOK does not appear in directory] .

Hi Jean      :)

"Karori" is the main cemetery for Wellington.

Not online unfortunately, but you can make an email enquiry to

            cemeteries@wcc.govt.nz

Good luck with your search.

Hi Mare

Great news that you've found Aner and Charlotte COOK on the COOK /COOKE listing of BDM's.

Ah .... BRIGHTON, New Zealand  .... not surprised it's been hard to find  .... it is now apparently known as "Tiromoana".
(Located on West Coast - 1866, the mining camps / setttlements of Charleston, Brighton and Addisons were in the Nelson Province and Provincial District)
"Google" for further information - "Charleston", "Brighton"
~ Wikipedia has good descriptions of these places.

.... and here's Aner COOK ... (and, a "Walter Robert" ?) ...

BULLER ELECTORAL ROLL  -   1879 - 80

>    COOK - Aner - shop and dwelling, Main Street, Brighton
                   (household qualification)
>    COOK - Walter Robert - house, (iron ?)

1882 - 84

>    COOK - Aner - Blacksmith, Brighton (residential qual.)

1885 - 86

>    COOK - Aner - Brighton - blacksmith (res. qual.)
>    COOK - Walter Robert, miner, Charleston (res. qual.)

?  I'm wondering if this Walter Robert COOK might be the son of Abraham Robert and Anna Maria (1861 UK census) ?

Does Walter Robert COOK appear in the COOK BDM listing -  is there a death perhaps ?

Not sure whether you've ordered printout for William's second marriage yet ? ....
