Hello

I am struggling to find records in relation to the above.

What i do know is that she was born 6th September 1886 in Tansey Green, Pensnett, Kingswinford and died 20th July 1963 in Hinckley, Leicestershire.

Emma Jane married Herbert Holloway in 1905 i think.  My early research indicates that her maiden name may have been Cotterill although i am not certain.  I would therefore like to find the 1901 and 1891 census records for her to identify her parents and to help identify her grandparents.

Can anyone help me please?

Thanks in advance

Warwickshire / Where is this place? Looks like Marstone
« on: Wednesday 30 July 08 22:43 BST (UK)  »
Hello

Can anyone help interpret the location of this entry in the Stretton On Dunsmore, Warks 1851 census.  The person is Thomas Holloway born about 1798 and it looks as if he is from Marstone - wherever that is!  I would like to see if i can find any further details about him - e.g baptism etc so that i can hopefully travel further back in time.  I do know that he married Mary Fletcher in Southam in 1827 so i imagine the place may have a Warwickshire link.

Unfortunately it looks as if he died sometime before 1861 and so he is not on the next census (Mary is though).  Therefore this is the only entry.

Any help appreciated!!!

Thanks in advance

Completed Census Requests / William Holloway - 1881 census lookup - Completed
« on: Wednesday 30 July 08 19:08 BST (UK)  »
Hello

I am having trouble locating someone on an 1881 census record.  I have located William Holloway born abt 1862 in Stretton on Dunsmore/Ryton on Dunsmore on the 1871 Census, where he is living with his Grandmother Mary Holloway (born abt 1805 in Southam and nee Fletcher i think) according to the Stretton On Dunsmore census. I have also found him on the 1891 census where he is living with his wife Elizabeth (born abt 1863 in Kingswinford nee Hartley i think) and his three children Herbert (born about 1885 in Leamington), Ethel (born about 1887 in Leamington) and William (born about 1889 in Leamington).

I believe that he died in 1893 in Leamington Spa.

I cannot find him on any 1881 census though - can anyone help me please?

Thanks in advance.

Leicestershire Lookup Requests / Burton - Birth records
« on: Saturday 26 July 08 19:49 BST (UK)  »
I am just trying to establish a direct link in respect of a family member.  William Burton was born around 1786.  Census records indicate he was from Nuneaton although he later moved to Hinckley.  I have been provided with details of a William Burton being christened at St Nicolas Church, Nuneaton on 20 Jan 1791 and although possible i am not certain this is him.

William married Mary Morris in Hinckley at St Mary's church on 26 July 1818.  Witnesses were Sarah Burton and James Burton.  These two people may hold the key to clarifying William Burton's details as i imagine they were related.  I note that a Sarah Burton is living next door to William Burton in the 1871 census.  This states her as a widow aged 85 and from Hinckley.  From a little research i have found that Sarah Burton (nee Toon?) appears to have married a Charles Burton on 19/04/1813 at St Mary's Hinckley.  Charles seems to have died 20 Jan 1841 aged 48 and i sadly can't find him on any census' to see if he was from Nuneaton or Hinckley.  This would put his birth date as around 1793.  Could Charles be William's brother?

Therefore, i am just wondering if anyone can please lookup William Burton (b circa 1786), Charles Burton (b circa 1793) and a James Burton (b pre 1800) in the Hinckley or Nuneaton area.  I cannot help but think that there is a link here somewhere and finding further details of the birth of these people may help me to establish parentage and a possible link.

Thanks in advance.

Leicestershire Lookup Requests / Mary Burton- Hinckley (birth/death) (COMPLETED)
« on: Saturday 26 July 08 18:12 BST (UK)  »
Hello again

I am wondering if anyone can help me find the birth/christening or death records of Mary Burton (nee Morris).  She was born around 1790 and census records list her as from Hinckley or Leicester.  She married William Burton of Nuneaton on 26th July 1818 at St Mary's Hinckley and i believe that she probably died in Hinckley in 1875.  She may therefore be buried in St Marty's churchyard or Ashby Road.

If anyone can help me by looking up birth/christening or death records for Mary i would be most grateful.

Thanks in advance

Completed Leicestershire Lookup Requests / John Webb - Gilmorton - completed
« on: Saturday 26 July 08 01:02 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to unravel a potential mystery.

In tracing my potential ancestor William Webb, listed on Gilmorton census in 1841, i can find records of him being born to a John Webb(e) and Ann about 1817.  Other siblings of John and Ann appear to be Ann (1820), Elizabeth (1822) and Phylis (1829).  I have found John and Ann on the 1841 census in Gilmorton where they are living with Phylis who is 13.  Then in the 1851 census they are living in Gilmorton alone.  The record lists Ann as coming from Broadwell, Warwickshire.  Then in 1861 i can only find Ann living with a Joseph Wood and his wife Elizabeth.  This again lists her from Broadwell although it lists her status as Step Mother.  I can therefore only imagine that she is the stepmother of Elizabeth as her age fits in with the potential christening listing of Elizabeth (1822).

Therefore, it may prove to follow that Ann was actually stepmother to all or some of the Children and that John was previously married to another Ann.  Can anyone help me unravel this mystery with some marriage lookups etc?

Perhaps i have got the links all wrong as i worked backwards from the 1861 census, which lists my ancestor William Webb (presumed son of William Webb above) born circa 1852 and living in Lutterworth with his mother Elizabeth, born circa 1811, from Gilmorton.  There is no sign of the potential father William Webb (1817) on this census and therefore i made the link by looking up Elizabeth in the Gilmorton 1851 census (where it lists her as a widow) and Gilmorton 1841 census' where she is living with her husband William Webb and several children, which also tie her to the 1851 census.  Elizabeth's  birth date fits in all three census' so i have assumed that this is the correct person as Gilmorton is not a large village.  However if i am wrong any help would be most appreciated!

Thanks in advance
