RECOGNITION OF SERVICES TO ROOTSCHAT

Earlier today I noticed that Grub (Valerie) had retired from her position as Moderator on the USA Board and Global Moderator on many and is now a Rootschat Honorary.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks to Valerie for her valuable assistance, expertise and guidance that she has personally given me over my short time on Rootschat and I am indebted to her. 

Everyone will be aware of all the free hours and time she has devoted in performing not only the “house-keeping” duties of Global Moderator but helping many, many Rootschat members since joining in 2004.

"A volunteer job, Valerie took for the love of the genealogy "obsession" and not done for any glory"  - but she does deserve the "glory"

Valerie, you will be sorely missed, you are a fabulous person, terrific researcher and I wish you all the best for the future.  Hope we can “team” up when you have the time to do some occasional research.

Canada Lookup Requests Completed / Brothers In Coal Creek, British Columbia. COMPLETED.THANK YOU

Hi.

Trying to help a fellow rootschatter with a few gaps and wonder if anyone could throw any further light on what could be 2 brothers in Coal Creek. British Columbia.

Isaac Wilson Reed - BMD Registered UK Sept 1892 Whitehaven. Cumberland. Father Thomas Reed. Canadian Soldiers Of War show a suitable entry for him 16 May 1916, the address details etc would be correct.  At that time he was single. Could anyone find anything else on Isaac please, wondering if he married & stayed in Canada.  ?

Canadian Soldiers of War also show an entry for William Reed, dated 12th May 1916 also in Coal Creek. British Columbia.  Isaac's brother - William's birth date should be Dec 1884 so this could be a possibility, although the record shows a birth date of 29 Nov 1887 in Cumberland. England. William is married with a wife Mrs E Reed which I could possibly match to a UK record, so I wonder if this could be the brother of Isaac.
Would it be possibly to find anything else on that couple - hoping her name might be Eleanor !!!

Just to complicate matters a third brother - John Reed born 1878 Cumberland. England married & moved with wife & children to Arizona. USA.
Unfortunately his wife Hannah died in Arizona 1919.  It appears that some of the children turn up in Canada. There is a time frame from 1919 - 1923 when these 2 children  somehow get from Arizona to Canada. Could they have joined the families of Isaac & William ?  Father John is in Arizona with another son in 1930 ?

These are the 2 girls:- Gladys Reed born 1909 Northumberland. England died Sept 5, 1923 in Fernie, British Columbia.

Sister Eleanor Reed born 1901 Cumberland England marries John Worthington in Fernie, British Columbia, Canada 9th July 1921 and died 29 May 1969 New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada

Hello Everyone,

I am trying to help someone behind the scenes, I cannot mention the names on this query because we are unsure if they may still be living.

I am trying to trace someone born in Texas and who was in the U S Airforce in Scotland in 1955  (apart from his name - we now have the place he was stationed, rank and a serial number)

Can anyone suggest a site or place to write to for further information please ?

I did find one site "Looking for US Air Force Personnel" but it seemed to indicate that they did not maintain assignment information prior to June 1970.

Any help, advice, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Where could I find Burial or Cemetery details of where Nicholas Bowness of the 5th Battalion. Border Regiment is buried.  Killed in Action 22 March 1918

Can anyone give any help or suggest why this family are not coming up on the 1870 Census ?
They are all listed individually in Philadelphia Ward 26 Dist 86 (2nd Enum), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Image should be 76 Page 21 - I've gone either side but don't see them. Please someone tell me I'm not going mad !!!! Thank You.

Bernard Burgas 14 Nephew. Parents:- (Germany) and Ireland. Never seen anything in brackets before. This surname could be Burgas/Burglis/Burgess but on the 1900 census a possibilty is Barney Burgie. Born Missouri Mar 1866. Single. Although the parents for this chap are both born Missouri. Barney is just a roomer in Kansas City Ward 1, Jackson, Missouri.

1910 Medford, Grant, Oklahoma.

James H Kelly 51 Born Scotland. Immigrated 1863. Married 20 years. Manager..........
Florence B Kelly 37 Born Missouri. Has 2 children. 2 survive. Saleswoman at grocery store.

1920 Schulter, Okmulgee, Oklahoma.

James H Kelly 66 Widow. No occupation.
Robert E Kelly 24 Single. No Occuation.

According to anc..try tree. Sarah J was born 31 Dec 1892. Florence. Fremont County. Colorado. Sarah died 30 Sept 1915.

Florence Bell Clark (John's wife) Born 27 Oct 1870 in Lebanon, Laclede Co., MO. Died  24 March 1917in Trinidad, Las Animas, CO. Buried 26 March 1917 Masonic Cemetery. Trinidad. CO
