World War Two / REME in WW2
« on: Friday 23 September 11 16:18 BST (UK)  »
Is there any info available anywhere without me having to apply for a friend's uncle's REME service record?

He was Craftsman Alex. Miller  No 13020810, R.E.M.E.

He obviously received some good training there as he made his living as a Radio repair man and dealer in London after the war.

Many thanks

I have the following info about someone who was killed when his plane came down(I understood over the sea? ) and have been told that all crew were never found.

Does the fact that there is a grave ,albeit a joint one, mean that they found the bodies?

The Common Room / What would be the reason for the delay?
« on: Tuesday 28 June 11 11:54 BST (UK)  »
I've just received a death cert of the grandad of a friend of mine.
He died aged 56 in Hillingdon Hospital of liver and stomach cancer on 22nd Aug 1932.
The informant was his wife(I believe they were estranged) who lived in Bedford.
The death was registered was 13th Feb 1933.

What would account for such a delay in the registration?

My task was to find out what happened to him after WW1 when he seemed to vanish, until I found his death in the March 1/3 of 1933.

Thanks

Australia / NSW births after 1910
« on: Saturday 18 June 11 16:17 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone have access to births after 1910 please?

I have a Sydney marriage in 1912 of an Arthur Baker and a Lydia Grace Brown.

Can anyone tell me what their kids full names were please?

I do have Arthur 1913 and William 1915,but they may have had middle names and I am hoping to trace them farther on than that. Were there any more children?

I do know that mum Lydia died in May 1953(in Newtown)

Many thanks

« on: Monday 23 May 11 10:49 BST (UK)  »
In 1911 I have the Miller family at 19 Yalford Street Commercial Rd MEOT

Louis Miller 33 grinder of knives b Russia
Rose Miller wife 30 b Russia (married 14 years)
Rebecca Miller dau 13 b Russia
Jacob son 9 b St George's London
Gertie dau 7 b Whitechapel
Sousa dau 4 b St Georges
Leah dau 1 b St George's

I cannot see this family in 1901,so am presuming they arrived here after that.
But also can't see them on any inwards ships lists.

I can't find deaths that fit, nor marriages for certain any of the kids.

Would Louis(Lewis) have been called to serve in WW1?

Help please!

Scotland / Can anyone help with James's birth? COMPLETED thanks to Sharon01
« on: Wednesday 27 April 11 16:17 BST (UK)  »
I have a James McFarlane who was born on 16th October 1893.

According to his 1937 marriage cert his dad was called Francis and was a miner.

Apart from going through every record on Scotland's people and spending a fortune is there any other way of finding his birth?

I did find one in 1901 who might fit(living in Rutherglen) born Airdre,but he's 9,so I'm not 100% convinced  ???

I don't know if his dad is alive by 1901,so he could also be one of those with just a mum,or other rellies.

Many thanks

Carol
