This is obviously a family member of mine from way back , I found it in a frame with my great Uncle George’s picture who died with Meningitis. The couple are either from the Wilson , Haughton or Morrison line from Killeshandra, Co Cavan.
If anyone can throw any light on them I’d be grateful.
Thanks

Cavan / R.J.Scott -Artist
« on: Thursday 05 December 19 19:03 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone know anything about R.J.Scott who was an artist, he was from the Killeshandra area.
My parents knew him and he painted several pictures for them.
I’d love to know if anyone knows anything about Robert Scott, I’m not sure if he moved to Norfolk.
When I googled him some paintings came up with an identical signature on the bottom right hand side of the pictures which were of Norfolk views.

Thanks for your help.

London and Middlesex / What happened to Bernard Edward Brand ?
« on: Tuesday 29 September 15 20:35 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to help a friend with some research. She is trying to find information about her father Bernard Edward Brand who was born in Uxbridge on 25th October 1946. She has just found out that he died in 2005 in Southampton. He married her mother in 1969 but they divorced a few years later.
Can anyone provide any information on Bernard, did he remarry ?
The death certificate has been ordered.
Any help would be helpful.
Thanks

Cavan / John Haughton - 'Gentleman farmer of Aghavadrin, Killeshandra'
« on: Tuesday 02 June 09 16:41 BST (UK)  »
I have just found another link in my family tree - John Haughton ( my ggggrandfather) was born  about 1774/5 and died 14th Dec 1846. This information has recently been provided someone who had came across some old information that had been gathered by a genealogist many years ago.

John had two children - Charles Haughton (my gggrandfather) who married Elizabeth Arnold and another son Richard. Charles and Richard's  mother was called Mary Anne but her maiden name is unknown.

Mary-Anne was born about 1786/ 1789/1790 and she died 6th Dec 1846 ( interestingly she died 8 days before her husband),  they got married in 1804.

Charles and Elizabeth Haughton (gggrandparents) are buried in Croghan Cemetry, Killeshandra.
I am not sure how these dates came about but any information would be very helpful.

Thanks

Margaret

Please can anyone repair this old photo taken around 1924 in Killeshandra, Co Cavan, Ireland.
My grandaparents Charles Haughton Wilson & Eliza Wilson (nee Morrison) are in the photo, also my great grandmother Anne Montgomery mother of Eliza as well as some of the Wilson children (my uncles and an aunt).

Incidentally this is the only photo that I have of my great grandmother.

Any help would be appreciated.

Many Thanks

Margaret

Hi,

I have just found an update to a thread I have been watching accidentally and I have checked the notify option to ensure that it was set for the thread I was watching. Am I doing something wrong or are others experiencing the same problems. This is also happening on a couple of boards I am watching tooas well as individual threads.
I have sent a couple of message to Rootschat but have not received any replies.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Margaret

Cavan / Charles & Elizabeth Haughton of Coromahon, Killeshandra
« on: Friday 07 March 08 13:15 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to trace Charles & Elizabeth Haughton of Coromahon, Killeshandra. There is a tomb in Croghan cemetry Killeshandra with the following inscription on it :

"Sacred to the memory of Charles Haughton of Coromahon.  Died 13 May 1870 aged 69 years. 'Mark the upright and behold the just.  For the end of that man is peace.'  Also his wife Elizabeth Haughton.  Died 15th February 1887, aged 79 years.  'Blessed are the dead Which die in the Lord.'"

From the inscription it looks like Charles was born in 1801 & Elizabeth was born in 1808.

I believe that my great grandmother Mary Jane Wilson's maiden name was Haughton before she married ( she died 14th March 1921). Mary Jane was married to John Wilson who died 19th Dec 1926. Unfortunately I do not have their dates of birth, all I know is that Mary Jane & John Wilson lived in Coromahon House too.

I have tried using IGI and cannot find anything.
Any help to establish any information on the missing generations with the Haughton and Wilson links would be appreciated

Thanks

Margaret

The Lighter Side / A lot can happen in less than a week
« on: Thursday 06 March 08 19:26 GMT (UK)  »
I have made contact with relatives on both my Mother's and Father's sides of the family this week.

I received a comment to a posting on Rootschat about 2-3 weeks ago from a long lost first cousin who lives in Australia, I haven't seen her for over 40 years. She flew into the UK this week and made contact with me. I will be meeting up with her very soon. My Mother is over the moon about how the internet has helped with the search - thank you Rootschat, she is looking forward to seeing her long lost niece.

On the very same day that my first cousin landed in the UK, I received a letter from a second cousin of my Father's that we did not know anything about, this has helped fill a few gaps regarding information on some of my great grandmother's family. My father has now spoken to his 76 year old second cousin, he was so surprised.

Twice in one week on both sides of my family and what is even stranger is that both breakthroughs happened on the same day and on my birthday.
It was very memorable day and one I will not forget for a long time.

Margaret
