Try this site http://www.lancashirebmd.org.uk/marriages.html
Search under Ribble.  It's not Parish registers.

Also Freebmd
Of course only the cert will give you full information

Thank you very much Colin.  I wonder why it was missed on the IGI.  Good job I had the book.

Thank you again.

Try this http://www.archivemaps.com/mapco/londongoods/goods11.htm
Look along Marylebone Road to High Street and follow it down

Weymouth Street is still there.  Try Streetmap

If you look at this map http://booth.lse.ac.uk/cgi-bin/do.pl?sub=view_booth_and_barth&args=528200,181600,1,large,0
Look at the light blue oblong near the top right hand side you will see Gt Barlow Street and Paradise Street.  It is near St Marylebone high Street.  Now called Cramer Street.

Try this http://archivemaps.com/mapco/cross1861/cross26a.htm Top right hand corner called Barlow but Paradise Street is there.

This one is 1861 http://archivemaps.com/mapco/cross1861/cross25.htm

You can buy a map of old Paddington from Alan Godfrey

Are the streets still there?  You can try the Charles Booth site to see what it was like.

What are the street names.  I'm sure if you tell us someone will be able to find them somewhere else.

Family History Beginners Board / Re: How far can you go back in history?
« on: Friday 14 August 09 08:18 BST (UK)  »
I managed to trace one line back to 1670.  Then I looked at all the Parish registers for the area and think I am back to a baptism in 1557.  He is Thomas Gooch the son of William Gooch the younger so I suppose that is back to 1500.  I have no proof of a connection yet but think it is the right line.  Trouble is it is a popular name in the area.

I have a book about my Jersey, Channel Islands, family which goes back to 1300 and possibly before.  Research in Jersey can only be done on the Island and the registers and documents are in French so I was pleased to find the book.

I can't get back to Adam and Eve but if you are lucky you can get back a long way.  Never give up.

I did a search.  There are lots of sites but this one says it was a shooting lodge at one time http://gearstones.com/history/
