The East of London FHS would I think be the best place to look if they have a stall there.  I think they did the original index.  You could look at www.eolfhs.org  (I think thats right, it's definately eolfhs) to see if there are any clues.

Have you tried freebmd for the deaths.  I tried to look but you didn't say when they were born so I could't tell if they were there.

Walter would probably have left home by 1881 if still alive.

You should also try different spellings

Good luck

Sounds like folio numbers.  You should have more information than that.  You need the P.R.O. bundle number.

Your reference will look something like this.

PRO bundle HO 107/XXXX folio XXX  pageXXX

It may be folio 307.  It would be rather a lot of pages to check if you have to look at all 307 folios.  If this is an index from The East of London FHS then it should give an actual folio number

I don't have Luce as a forename but do have it as a surname.  I assume it is probably someone from a Luce family.  I have a Luce family from Jersey.  It will probably be a French name originally.

Unless of course it is short for Lucy

Completed Census Requests / Re:1821 Census Index request

Hi John

Sorry to tell you that there are no Veaseys in the 1821 census for Hackney, nor are there any in 1811 or in Poplar, 1821 or 1831.

I even looked under Ws in case it had been mis-read or mis-pronounced.  I'm not sure what a capital V would look like in those days.

Sorry I couldn't help

I imagine it may be that she sews seams on white goods ie sheets, pillow cases.

A seamstress could sew anything.

Someone else may have a better isea.

Best thing is to look for your grandparents marriage.   If you are lucky the marriage cert may give some idea of their age.  It will also give their fathers names.

I'm afraid family history is a long slog and costs money.
Your local main library may have the BMD indexes which are free to view, or the LDS has them at their fmily history centres.

Also you cannot believe everything your father tells you.  Most of us know to our cost that memories are not always accurate.

Sorry the only David Green was aged 2.  I looked at David Polhill just in case it had been misindexed but there was no-one there.

Hope you find him soon
