I have Pigots 1839 directory of London and it's suburbs.  Unfortunately there is no Touzalin or anything similar.  Sorry

My 1888 map shows a St Mark's church on North Woolwich Road at the Connaught road end.
If you look on Google maps look for Connaught Road E16.  You will see a church on North Woolwich Road.

I don't know if it is the right one but you could try a search of St Mark's Silvertown.  I found this on one site http://www.lalamy.demon.co.uk/stmark.htm

Completed Census Requests / Re: 1851 census Page in Westmorland Completed thanks

Hello minisgreat Welcome to Rootschat

I'm afraid the picture is the my grandmother Isabella Gooch nee Barette and no connection to the Page family

William and Isabella are on my husbands side.
Their son Thomas had a daughter Mary Ann who married Richard Harrison in 1888.  Richard is my Husband's grandfather.

I haven't managed to get back any further with William and Isabella.

Technical Help / Re: recording digital TV
« on: Thursday 23 July 09 11:54 BST (UK)  »
Thanks for your help.

My son came and has now sorted the video recorder so I can keep recording that way.  I will wait a bit longer until the prices of digital recorders comes down or my Video recorder breaks down.  I'm not due to be "switched off" until 2011.  I can watch one programme and record one other on analogue.  After seeing that 3 programmes I like are all on together tonight perhaps I will change my mind.  I wouldn't mind a recorder with a DVD player so i can get rid of another piece of equipment but I will wait a bit.

I will not pay for Sky.  I already pay for a licence and do not see why I should have to pay for anything else.  I've looked at the programmes available and apart from House I don't see anything else  worth paying for.

Thank you anyway

Did a search and found this http://www.ellisisland.org/shipping/Formatship.asp?shipid=5814
If you click on the name of the ship you will find it had few passengers on other dates.  Might find out more on the site.

Technical Help / recording digital TV
« on: Tuesday 21 July 09 12:28 BST (UK)  »
My old TV broke yesterday so now I have a new one.  It is digital of course.  Now I don't need the digibox and I can't record on my video recorder so I'd like some advice on a new recorder.  I used to record lots of programmes to watch over the week, 4 different evernings up to 4 programmes a night, plus some in the middle of the day which I watched soon after.

What should I buy?  I'm getting a bit slow in my old age so it should be easy to work and watch at sometime.  Do I get a DVD recorder or what?  Any recommendations.

The Lighter Side / Re: Who is left to carry on?

My family are not interested.  Someone might be one day.

I have been doing this hobby for 20 years and have managed to get well back on several lines.I have everything on computer and have sent CDs to all family members that I can.

I have just cut down my 25+ paper files to 7.  I'm hoping to get the information into 6 large files.  I had printed a lot of things from the net which are now in the recycle bin(all on the computer).  All I have kept is the main information about each family and the certificates and wills.  I may print it out in smaller case and on the reverse to cut the paperwork.  I have left a note with my will to say that I hope they keep the files and photos in a box or suitcase in the loft for future reference.  How I would have loved to have found something like this.  I've told them to sell all the books I've collected on e-bay if they can

My Grandson will be 18 next month.  He is getting a CD and a rolled up tree for his birthday.  I will then do more trees for the others.  Keeps me busy as I am stuck with all lines now.

It would be difficult to send trees to the Family History Societies as my family cover a lot of counties.
