Worcestershire / Yarnold & Brothertons
« on: Tuesday 05 August 08 23:09 BST (UK)  »

Hiya,

I don't know where to start ..lol

I know i posted sometime ago in the London forum, but i have had a bit more information on the Yarnolds & Brothertons and this is why i am posting in the Worcester boards.

The story goes that the Brothertons was a well to do family who owned stables had land etc etc in Worcester/Hereford

My gt grandmother Roseanna/Rose Yarnold married Alfred Brotherton. Rose probably was probably born around 1873 to 1876 Worcester.
I have searched for her marriage to Alfred from 1886 upto 1906 to no avail.
Also Rose/Roseanna sister Mary Yarnold married a brother of Alfred again i cannot find a marriage for Mary & Mr Brotherton.

Also the story goes that Alfred died down in the pits in about 1905-1906 probably in the Worcester area. Rose then moved to London and had their daughter on 20th Feb 1906. Now the strange thing is i can't find Alfred death index anywhere ???

I am sure there was more children born to Alfred & Rose, but again i don't know where to find them or if they did have more children.

I have put Rose & Alfrec on the back burner until i had this new info come through over the last few days. I don't want to give up on her

Any help or info to find my very elusive gt grandmother i will be so much grateful.

Many thanks in advance

Pam

Lanarkshire / Help with marriage please
« on: Saturday 26 July 08 09:04 BST (UK)  »

Hello all,

This is the first time i have posted on the Scotland boards,

My gt gt aunt came over from Co Sligo Ireland in the early 1920's, but not sure if any of her siblings came with her.

I was wondering if someone can do a look up for my 2x gt aunts marriage. Her name is Agnes Mannion b 1904 Tubbercurry, Co Sligo she married a John Hamill in Glasgow in 1926 going by her baptism record no actual date was given or area. And if at all possible if they had children.

I am not sure if Scotland is the same as England & Wales with ordering certs or where you go to order them

Any help or information will be greatly appreciated

Many thanks in advance

Sligo / Sligo Men in the Great War
« on: Saturday 28 June 08 17:17 BST (UK)  »
Hello List,

I was in Tubbercurry last week researching my Irish roots, and i meet my Great Uncle for the first time. He let me borrow a book called Sligo Men in the Great War 1914 - 1918 by James McGuinn, but i need to post it back to him as soon as possible as there was not many that was published and you cannot get the book anymore from what i have been told.

At the back of the book there is about 16 pages of Sligo men who died in the great war, i am in the process of scanning them pages and saving them to my pc.

I am sure you can understand that it is way too much to type it all out on here, it would take me ages

I am willing to do a look up on the soldiers that died in the first world war from Sligo, but not every soldier is in the book.

I hope i can help someone

Hello all,

I can't find my great grandmother death indexes at all in Ancestry

Her name is Annie Eliza Brooks nee Rolfe b 27th June 1882.
Annie died 4 to 5 years after my grandad died in Sept 1969
I have searched from the the last q in 1969 through to 1983, i just can't find her after 3 times going through the demise indexes.

Annie's husband Arthur W died in 1943 and my dad said that his mum used to say to him we are going to see nana Gladstone.
I have also search the death indexed with the surname of Gladstone with the same time frame and still nothing.

She lived in Willesden sub district Kilburn most of her married life and until she passed away.

I wonder if anyone can check the death indexes to see if i missed her, i am sure i haven't...

Many thanks in advance

Pam
