I see you haven't got any further with this on here and that you haven't posted any more messages.

Are you still looking for David Longhurst?

Hampshire & IOW Lookup Requests / Old Alresford PR's - burials Wheable
« on: Saturday 26 August 06 19:25 BST (UK)  »
Hello All

Hoping someone on here has access to copies of the parish registers or can point me in the right direction.

I am looking for a burial for James and Charlotte Wheable after 1821 when their son Stephen was born. They are not on the 1841 census. I think Charlotte may have died December 1/4 1839 (Freebmd).

Thanks in advance

Dawn

Hi Carol

In 1881 Alice was with her parents and in-laws (Brooks) at 34 Worlds End Passage Chelsea St Lukes (RG11 75 78 47) which is also where she was born.

Can't find her in 1891, she's in service somewhere,  but the rest of her family are at 3 Fords Place Battersea (RG12 429 15 18).

I'm trying to find her in 1901 just before she marries my Great grandfather in 1903.

The rest of the family are at Stainforth Road Battersea (RG13 452 69 28) transcribed Whenble, her brother Arthur is at Harbut Road Battersea (RG13 455 119 15) transcribed Wheatle.

Alice died in Chelsea in 1970 and lived there her whole life as did my Grandfather and his sister.

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / 1901 lookup please - Alice WHEABLE
« on: Thursday 24 August 06 09:57 BST (UK)  »
Hello all

I am trying to find Alice on the 1901 census and have tried both the National Archive and Ancestry search pages.

She was born in Chelsea in 1874 but didn't marry until 1903.

Her other family are found in Battersea transcribed as Wheable Whenble or Wheatle depending on where you search.

Hoping another pair of eyes can find her.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Karenlee

http://www.hounslow.info/page.aspx?pointerid=A55CEE7681924CF59476122552FEFB91&thelang=001lngdef

This is a link to the cemeteries page operated by Hounslow council (Brentford is in the borough of Hounslow)

I suggest you send them an email with the information you have an what you are looking for. Depending on their workload (genealogy is such a popular hobby and they may make a charge for the look-up as the old registers are not computerised) they may or may not be able to give you the information you are looking for or they could send you off in another direction.

I suspect that Chiswick Old cemetery is the most likely place.

Hi Sarra

http://www.southwark.gov.uk/YourServices/BirthsDeathsMarriages/cemeteries/

is a link to Southwark coucil, there are 3 municipal cemeteries in Southwark of which 2 are possibilities.

I suggest you send the council an email and explain what information you have nd what you are looking for and that you are based in Australia. Depending on workload they may or may not give you the information you are looking for or be able to give you more details of where the records are. Genealogy is such a popular hobby now and some local authorities are inundated with requests, some charge for the look-ups as the records are not computerised and still held in very old ledgers.

Good luck

Hello again Finch

I've just finished checking the 1871 census for 21 the Lynch Uxbridge. Margaret FINCH from Waddlington is there with her husband George.

Cant find anything of either name on 1861, sorry.

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / 1851/1861 Census Look-up - SHERRY
« on: Tuesday 22 August 06 14:07 BST (UK)  »
Hello All

Hoping another pair of eyes will confirm what I've found or find another possibility.

William Augustus Sherry was baptised 30 June 1822 St James Church Paddington.

I think I've found him on the 1841 census just as William without a surname at 1 Vere Street (HO107 piece 676 bk 1f olio 20 pg 32) but then I've got a problem.

Is this him in 1851? The Ancestry search result lists a William Sherry with a wife Charlotte at 39 Gloucester Street, Finsbury (HO107 piece 1513 folio 104 pg 24) but I'm sure the enumerator has him written down as Shury on the census sheet.

Is this him in 1861? This time Ancestry search results show William and Charlotte Shury at Perry Mill, Lewisham (RG9 piece417 folio 111 pg 22). By this time they have a son Charles with them aged 9.

I haven't found a death for William Sherry between 1841 and 1851, and there isn't a marriage for William Sherry with a Charlotte but there is one for William Shury.

If this isn't him and his family, has anyone got any other possible sightings?

Thanks in advance

Dawn
