Cornwall / Burial Place of Robert JERRETT d1873?
« on: Tuesday 04 August 09 15:46 BST (UK) »
I have been searching for some time for the burial place of Robert Jerrett, without success.
Robert was born in Sandford, Devon 1815 to parents James Jerrett and Mary Cousins. He married Sarah Strong in 1846 in Paddington, London - they already had five children, all born in Sandford, followed by four more. The family moved to Toxteth Park, Liverpool sometime between 1861 and 1871.
Robert became a Master Mariner sailing all over the world. He died 17.01.1873 at Bar, Falmouth whilst Master of Sea Queen, on which his son Robert, b1843 Sandford, was serving. In 1971 this ship was registered in the name of Mrs Jane Goodyear. Robert's youngest son Samuel Strong Jerrett, b1857 Sandford, was a partner in the Goodyear company and was based in Liverpool.
Robert's wife Sarah was buried in the Toxteth Park cemetery in Liverpool, at a later date, but there is no record of Robert's body having been taken there for burial. The obvious assumption is that he was buried in Falmouth, but I have drawn a blank so far.
Can anyone help please
