Joseph SENNETT who married Julia Ann RYAN came to West Yorkshire from Co Wicklow in 1847/48.  They were married in Wicklow, and the first two children were born there.  I have not been able to discover which village they come from, though one family link suggests Rathdrum.

If anyone comes across any reference to SYNNOTT/SENNETT (any spelling) in Wicklow, can you please let me know which parish(es), and particularly if there are also RYANs in the same parish.

Family History Beginners Board / reading gravestones

Does anyone else have a small pair of binoculars as essential family history research equipment?  I have found them invaluable for doing quick scans over cemetery headstones.  You can stand in one spot and read gravestones for several rows back at a time.  Saves a lot of walking.

Probably should have put this on "the lighter side" as I imagine I get a few strange looks when I am pottering around in cemeteries looking for rellies.

Would like to hear from anyone with Irish ancestors who immigrated to Whitwood/Normanton in the late 1840's.  Particularly interested in those who came from Co. Wicklow.

Gloucestershire / BIGG family

Trying to find anything to link the family of Robert BIGG (who married Hannah OLIVER) of Bristol (with links to Devon and Somerset) to the family of Edward BIGG, solicitor of London.  Time period 1700's to early 1800's.

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / MORRELL Edmonton/Tottenham
« on: Sunday 19 September 04 06:56 BST (UK)  »
Trying to find out what happened to the older siblings of my grandfather, Joseph (Jack MORRELL), son of Joseph MORRELL and Elizabeth VINEY (who later remarried Arthur BULLOCK).  The missing siblings are Jane (probably Jane Matilda b about 1900, Bill and Charles (born about 1901-1903).  Did any of them marry? or have children?

Also, I can't find a death record for the father Joseph MORRELL b 1875 in Wormley Hertfordshire, and died sometime between 1914 (last reference to him) and 1922 (when his wife remarried as a widow).  He doesn't seem to have been in the army so probably not a war casualty.  In 1914 he was still in the Edmonton/Wood Green/Tottenham area.

Yorkshire (West Riding) / SENNETT descendants
« on: Saturday 18 September 04 21:41 BST (UK)  »
I am interested in finding all the descendants of Joseph SENNETT and Julia Ann RYAN who came to Whitwood/Normanton from Co. Wicklow in Ireland in 1847/48.  Besides SENNETT, this would also include surnames: McGOWAN, KENNY/KEANEY, CAIRNS/KEARNS, FOY.  If you think you are descended from Irish immigrants with any of these names who were in the Whitwood/Normanton area in the late 1800's, I'd love to hear from you and compare notes.
