US Lookup Requests / Michigan Obituary
« on: Sunday 08 April 12 16:47 BST (UK)  »
Would someone be kind enough to look up the obituary for me of Maria Littlejohn please.

She died in 1906 in Detroit, Wayne County the wife of Charles Littlejohn. She was born abt. 1840 in Ireland.

Charles must have died about that time as well as I can't find a record of him after 1900. He was born abt. 1838 in Scotland.

Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / Mystery Nephew
« on: Friday 17 February 12 21:37 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me find details of a mystery nephew who has appeared on the 1891 census.

He is Herbert W Philips reportedly the nephew of either William C Woodward or his wife Eva M Woodward.

He was born in 1887 in Gloucester. The only Phillips connection is that Eva Maria's mother was Ann Brinkworth Philips and she had Eva prior to marrying the father Henry William Jones.

Herbert does not appear in my family tree and I can't find a birth entry for him through all the usual sources.

Canada Lookup Request / Ontario 1881 census
« on: Tuesday 26 July 11 22:16 BST (UK)  »
Looking for Alexander & Mary Littlejohn on the 1881 census.

I found them on the 1871 census living in the City of Hamilton, St Patrick's ward.

He was 65 & his wife was 56. They were both born in Scotland.

Mary died in 1891 in Wentworth County.

I am trying to find when Alexander died and so far have had no luck on Ancestry Worldwide.

Would love some help please.

Canada Lookup Request / Ontario Marriage
« on: Monday 27 June 11 17:52 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I am looking for the marriage of Charles Littlejohn b. 1838 in Scotland & his wife Maria b. 1840 in Ireland. He was Presbyterian & she Catholic so he may have converted for her.

I have found them on Ancestry on the 1861- 1891 censuses in Ontario, Hamilton, St Lawrence Ward. They crossed into the US in1896 and I have them on the 1900 in Wayne County, Michigan. On that it states that they were married 36 years although they appear to be married on the 1861 census.

Charles was the son of Alexander Littlejohn & Mary Walker who also emigrated to Canada between 1851 & 1861. I can't find any information on Passenger Lists for them.

Any help would be great.

« on: Monday 31 January 11 20:53 GMT (UK)  »
I've reached a brick wall with my Smith research in Yorkshire and would love some help please.

I have the marriage cert. for William Smith & Maria Harrison and can't find his birth or any obvious person on any census.

The marriage was 3/4/1892 at the Church of Wortley de Leeds. His address is 11 Addingham St., Wortley and he is 22 and a labourer. His father is also a William Smith deceased and a gardener. The witnesses are no clue as they are from his bride's family.

Norfolk / Died in Yarmouth
« on: Wednesday 05 January 11 22:37 GMT (UK)  »
I'm looking for information about Percy Smith who died in Yarmouth in the March qtr, of 1972.

The BMD index gives his birth as 12/5/1892.

Would love to find a M I or obituary.

He married Hetty Holmes in Bollington, Cheshire 2/1/1915, father William Smith deceased. Occupation given as Miner. Address as 23, Oldham Street, Bollington.

With such a common name, I have been unable to find him on any census as I don't know were he was born for sure. Think it may be in Lancashire.

« on: Wednesday 27 October 10 17:01 BST (UK)  »
I'm looking for birth & service information for an American Army Serviceman who was stationed in the Wilmslow area of Cheshire, England during WW2. His name was (*) who I believe came from Boston.

I don't know when he died so he may be still living and in his late eighties.

Any pointers in the right direction would be fantastic.

Looking for information about the writer Mrs Sunter Harrison as part of a Welsh friend's research.

Is it possible to find her maiden name, birth & death dates? We know she was still living in 1989 possibly in Wrexham.

Any information would be great.
