Hi maggie, not really related to your enquiry bu I have an ancestor called Frances Turnbull which was transcribed as Trumble so yours is quite possibly Turnbull, she married an Edward Common.
I am also related to the bells, my mother was Florence Bell.  My GG grandfather was Matthew Bell born in Benwell Newcastle.    happy searching Malcolm Common

Hi Pat, I lived in the same street (Woodside Avenue)seaton Delaval, as Robert Boon whose Father was Called Abel or Able, at Wallace Terrace, Seaton Terrace, Seaton Delaval.
I am certain that Abel Boon worked underground at Seghill Pit, as when I was young, about 20, 40 years ago now I was working as an Electrician at Burradon pit and we accidentally broke through into old workings at Seghill which was a neighboring pit to ours, whilst rummaging around we came across an old Axe which was marked with the name Abel Boon!!,   I have often wished I had kept it .
Old Abel and Robert his son are now dead but Robert did have a young son who will probably be in his late 40s now.  regards malcolm.

Hi frek, the company you are referring to is Mertz McLennan and they were Consulting Electrical Engineers and they were based in the Citadel Tower Block at Killingworth, (where Morrisons Supermarket is now),  They were Probably the biggest Electrical Consutancy in Britain and were I believe responsible for taking Electricity into Africa. regards Malcolm.
