Family History Beginners Board / Please Save Safely
« on: Tuesday 12 April 16 04:18 BST (UK)  »
I thought I'd just post a tip to all about the importance of saving all our fantastic papers, photographs, & absolute hard work. We are currently moving down south of Western Australia, & in our 'wisdom' stored all my family history files (14) with years & years of documents, letters etc, at my sister place in her huge steel shed. Unfortunately they had the Yarloop fires,  alas, not only 2 people lost their lives, most of the town was demolished, & yes, we lost everything. I still don't have the heart to begin again, it's just too sad at the moment. No doubt, I will start again, but please save well.  :-\

Family History Programs, Tree Organisation, Presentation / Subscription Query.
« on: Monday 04 May 15 12:06 BST (UK)  »
Greetings peoples,
I am wanting to get a subscription for researching my family.
I have narrowed my options down to Ancestry with the World Heritage package (as a lot of my relatives are from the UK).
I also want to purchase a Family History program, can anybody suggest the best program that would work with this package, I have two options in mind.
1. Family Tree Maker Deluxe OR
2. Legacy Family Tree.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as I am in a position to pick up my research, where I left off.
Thanks in advance. :)

London and Middlesex / Surname change?
« on: Saturday 26 April 14 11:08 BST (UK)  »
Greetings peoples. After quite a while, I can now start looking in earnest for my elusive relative. A number of years ago  I found a Richard Wenlock HOLTON burial in Clapham aged 56yrs in 1806. Same church a Mary the first daughter of Richard HOLTON  & Frances his wife, late F FARRAND.
On another day,  I noted down a Francis  son of Richard & Francis WENLOCK at Enfield in 1801. I am so puzzled ! Is this the same Richard, if so, how is his surname now WENLOCK not HOLTON. Maybe I am missing something? Any ideas please?

London and Middlesex / ADVICE PLEASE?
« on: Wednesday 06 October 10 11:51 BST (UK)  »
Greetings friends all over! After a few years & grey hairs! I have found a promising lead, but am in a quandry what to do next. Details are: For all papers up to now, the name I am chasing is HOLTON, with a middle name of WENLOCK. With no luck other than a marriage of a Francis Wenlock HOLTON in 1850 in Manchester Cathedral Lancashire. Then I find a Richard Wenlock HOLTON death in Clapham in 1806, leaving a widow Frances FARRAND. Recently on a well known website, I find a Richard Wenlock marrying a Frances FARRAND! So apparantly the middle name is now a surname!! Can anyone please advise firstly why do this? And secondly, where to now.
Apologies if I've "woffled" on too much, thought I'd give as much info as possible.
Thank you in advance  :D

« on: Sunday 14 March 10 01:57 GMT (UK)  »
Greetings,
I really need sks to do a Look-up. I'm chasing my Grandfather's school admission. (who my mum knows nothing about till he joined the Army!)Hopefully he went to either Peckham Park School. Or Cator Street School. Film No: X095/040 & X095/038. Years I'm looking at are: 1892 - 1908. His name is Henry Charles MASKELL. My Mum & I would dearly love to know SOMETHING about him, even if its only a school he attended. He lived at 27 Basing Road Peckham, if that helps any?
Many thanks for taking the time to read, & hopefully help some. :)
Kind Regards,
Stella - Australia.

Greetings all, whilst in bed sick, it has given me the opportunity to 'delve' somewhat ;)
I have found a document Number for a file? My Mum Dorothy Wenlock MASKELL was sent to the Brentwood Convalescent home in St.Leonards on sea in the 1950's. Is it possible anyone is able to perhaps find anything for me? Number is A/KE/724/12. 1952 -1961.
Thank you in anticipation  :)
