Provided the dates were given correctly. I've got two in my tree where children collided with each other- one with John born Apr 1805 and Hannah Dec 1805 (no other indications of there being two families) and the other, more pointedly, Sophia Sept 1800 and John Dec 1800 where, crucially, the instructions of Shute Barrington led to the latter records having the father's name, occupation and residence and the mother's name, maiden name, father's name and father's occupation. We speculated that Sophia might have been born in 1799 but the vicar wrote 1800 out of habit.

Looks like Base to me, just with the old form s (Bafe)

Baseborn is a common remark in old parish records, as well as "natural son/dau"- as Neale said, meaning illegitimate. This is backed up by Ann being the daughter of her mother (Margaret) on the record rather than daughter of her father.

Pardon, the transcript was incorrect. Original image says 2 years, abode Folkestone. I'm afraid I'm only seeing deaths for him. He was probably born elsewhere.

I'm not seeing any deaths for 1856, Elham. If you have seen one, could you link it?

If not, we can take a few steps back- what do you know about Henry Adams?

I can see a death registered in Elham for 1855? Is that the one you are after?
- Edit, this Henry was aged 2 days.

I assumed you had that death and wanted more information on it. Do you know that he died in 1856? Do you know where in Kent? Where was he in 1851?

Is this the death for Malling, Kent? Aged 0. Could be the burial in Wateringbury, 14 Nov 1856 aged 5 Months. Corresponding christening appears to be 2 Jul 1856 to James and Harriett.

My first impression was Croft as well. Doesn't mean it isn't the same person though, that's a minor spelling difference compared to some I've seen!
