Sorry Chempat ,  I believe that Maisie and Alan split up in the 1960's she moved to Manchester so it's said ,my uncle died in Glasgow in 1998.

 Has anyone got Maisie McGonigal in their tree , born around 1930 she was married to my uncle Alan Wilson both lived in Glasgow, in Castle street.

 why do people actually steal them then?
At the bottom of every (English/Welsh) Birth Certificate, it says:
WARNING: A CERTIFICATE IS NOT EVIDENCE OF IDENTITY

It is simply "A Certified Copy of an Entry" in the Register.
