Glamorganshire Lookup Requests / Thomas Rees
« on: Tuesday 26 April 11 02:55 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find the DEATH of Thomas Rees.  I have a Rhondda Urban District Council Interment notice, for Llethrddu Cemetary, but cannot read the exact date.  date of death is given as 22 Dec.?
and it was issued on the 24? 1901.  I am looking for the name of his father.  THomas was my great grand-dad.   His wife was Sarah, and she susbequently married James Squire.  These two latter are buried in Trealaw cemetary.  Thomas was born c. 1846. and was 68 when he died.
I cannot find him in FMBD.   the grave marker is U219.    One of his children was Benjamin John.
Any help would  be appreciated.

Want to say thanks for messages to me about Benjamin Hammond, killed in Black Vein Mine in 1864
To Tony, Mark, Andrew, Cell, halfasheep and Stan.   Sorry about the delay, was away for 6 weeks.
I still have to find a coroners report.  I have found he as buried at Risca, presumably in the Miners Cemetary(?), and the family moved back to Wales, at least they are in Wales in the 1871 Census.
Thanks for everyone's help,  I appreciate it very much.

Thanks Cell for your info.  I appreciated your comments.    Benjamin is proving so elusive.   One day he will wish to be found.

I see from the little writing at the bottom of your note the words Oystermouth/Mumbles/Carmarthen.  Area I used to spend my school holidays at, with my cousins.  Longlong ago.....

Many thanks Stan,  and thanks too, for that site, it looks fascinating.   His death cert. said he was 50, not 30 tho.  Any info on his family, or where I could find out?
As my grand-father's family were miners, this site could be of very great interest.

Many thanks for your reply.  I have quickly looked at the website page, but they only list 5 or more people that die in disasters.  He is described 'parish of Machen', in his death cert. but he could have worked at any mine in the area, I suppose.

I appreciate your help.  Thanks.

I a trying to find out about a mining accident, which happened on 13 April, 1864, at Machen, Monmouthshire, Wales.    Benjamin Hammond was killed in a 'fall of stones'  on his death certificate, nothing else.

Any newspaper reports?, Family? Information?
Any help would be appreciated.    thanks.

Have now got death certificate for William Bannister.  New query.
His son James Byron Bannister married Olive Vidler beginning 1924  he died 23 Dec. 1924. buried in Lismore.    How can I find out why he died so young?    The Richmond River Historical Soc. have a memorial newspaper notice for him, but it just gives his date of death.

There must be some Bannisters out in the wide blue yonder that could help;
descendants of Walter, Ethel, Ada, Herbert, George, Thelma and Elsie where are you?

Hi Jenn

Yes, I have sent off two enquiries, not even an acknowledgement.    Still my late husband said he married me for my patience.......(I agree, THEY are not anxious, enquiring genealagists.)     Still he has been missing since 1880, so a few more days.......
Cheers.
