I am not sure if my reply will be an hinderance or help to you, but here goes!

In Bedwellty there is a village called Fleur-de-lys which I believe was settled by Huguenots in the 18th century - please do not take this as fact as I am not sure where I picked up this information. However, it might give you something to look up.

With regards to the early census etc. it is in the area of the villages of Trelyn and Pontaberpengam (in 1841 at least!)

I hope this will be of some help to you.

Monmouthshire Lookup Requests / Gwent RO - could anyone check something for me?
« on: Wednesday 23 August 06 09:40 BST (UK)  »
Would anyone be able to look for a marriage for me.  I have the date, place, and names but would be interested to find out their ages,  the names of the fathers, witnesses, etc.

the details I have are

11th August 1834 at Bedwellty
John Morgan and Hannah Thomas.

If anyone is visiting the Records Office and would be able to spare the time to look this up for me I would be grateful.

They were at the Mountain Ash Inn for longer than I had thought.
Iwill have to try and pop up there and take some photographs before the summer is over.

thanks Patrish,
This isnot the family I am searching for - mine should be in cottages near the Mountain Ash Inn nr. Tredegar. Or possibly at the Inn itself.

Monmouthshire Lookup Requests / 1871 Bedwellty

Would anyone be able to locate this family on the 1871 census?

Hannah Thomas b.1816 Mynyddislwyn
Thomas Morgan b. 1853 Tredegar
Hannah Morgan b. 1857 Tredegar

They should be together, possibly with other family members, I had thought I had this information but seem to have either overlooked it, or misplaced it :-[

Glamorganshire Lookup Requests / Re: absent voters list
« on: Tuesday 15 August 06 10:50 BST (UK)  »
Hi Ken,
In an old leaflet I have from Bargoed library it says

'Although the main collection is housed at Bridgend Branch Library, there are also strong collections at Pontypridd and Bargoed libraries....'

However, with regards to voters lists, it only mentions,

Electoral registers from the mid 1960's to the present day...'

Perhaps Bridgend library would be able to help you.
