Thanks so much, the info. it was a great help.  It was the family, I was searching for.  I notice you are also researching "Morgan", - in what area ?  My Morgan family moved to Tredegar , Monmouthshire.

Completed Census Requests / 1871 census - MORGAN
« on: Thursday 18 November 04 22:54 GMT (UK)  »
Just wondered if anyone was able to do a look up for me.  I am trying to locate a John Morgan and his family living in the parish of Llanfihangel Helygen, possibly at "glandulas" although I have no idea of the correct spelling. The only information I have is from the 1851/1861 census, which would give an indication of their ages etc.

MORGAN,John   56  mason
              Mary   58
Wilde,James     11(possibly living with them)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thank you Rhys, afraid to assume too much but the details you give seem to match the details I have. The ages for both Margaret and Catherine seem to match, although I have not come across any ref. to Hannah. It would be great if you were able to give me details of the 1871 census if that is not too much to ask. I am still new to all this computer stuff- but thanks so much for your help.

Monmouthshire / GRIFFITHS - Tredegar
« on: Friday 12 November 04 22:01 GMT (UK)  »
My ancestor Richard Griffiths was born at Queens Square, in 1861.  However, I am at present unable to find anything of his father Thomas who was recorded as a blacksmith, or Thomas's marriage to the mother Margaret Morgan. They had previously had a daughter Catherine, but I am unable to find any record of marriage. I presume they were married as Margaret subsequently married Henry James in 1869 and her name was given as Griffiths. Any suggestions of how I may precede would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Thanks to those who replied to my original request for help.  It seems my next avenue will be the 1841 census. The marriage certificate I have gives residence for both parties as "Wiliton" -  no actual addresses. Also, the witnesses to the marriage were of the bride's family. As yet, I am unaware of any of Robert's siblings which would be helpful but I will continue with my search.
Again, thank you for your help.

My journey so far has been quite easy; in a few months I have traced back to the early 19C with little effort. I have located my ancestors in west Somerset, but am unsure how to progress further. I am unable to travel to record offices as I have two under fives and am unable to drive.  Can anyone help with suggestions of how to progress further?
I have a certificate of marriage for 1841, for Robert CHIDGEY and Anne Stevens, Williton Somerset, with his father being JOHN Chidgey.  I have found numerous possibilities and am unsure how to progress. I do not know exact birth of Robert or correct surname spelling as so many variations!  Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. ???
