The Common Room / Did my grandmother die in Canada? Help please.
« on: Monday 01 April 24 13:43 BST (UK)  »
My grandmother Maria Louise Cole and her husband Owen Joseph Roberts Cole with their children, Kathleen, Robert and Walter went to Canada around 1904.  The family landed in Canada and headed to the Winnipeg area.  In 1908 Owen and the three children returned to London.
I have been searching for some time for Maria Louise, so would appreciate some help to track her down.
Its many years since I was on here, I thought I had all I needed.  Wrong!!
Cheers Ozdot.

Canada Lookup Request / Look up a Death Notice please
« on: Monday 11 March 24 08:22 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find a death notice for my grandmother, Maria Louise Cole.  Along with her husband,Owen Joseph Cole and three children she emigrated to Canada approx 1902. I think they were somewhere in the prairie states.
My grandfather and children returned to England around 1908 and then went to Australia in 1909.
When he arrived there he was accompanied by his eldest son, Robert.  No sign of Maria or her daughter and son.
I hope someone can help me here, it would be appreciated.
Cheers Dot.

The Common Room / Glover - would there be any listings of these anywhere?
« on: Tuesday 12 March 19 09:43 GMT (UK)  »
My great grandmother, Anna Lush Roberts is shown on the 1851 Census as a glover.  I have info (I can't remember or find the slip of paper) that she went on to run a shop, maybe near her home in Fontmell Magna in Dorset.  So I'm wondering if there are any listings of shopkeepers etc in 19th century archives anywhere.
Help please, I am in Western Australia and a bit far away to search on the ground.
Regards,
Dot.

The Common Room / UK Wills - 19th Century
« on: Saturday 31 March 18 09:30 BST (UK)  »
Can someone please tell me if there is a site I can use to check out a will - my great-great-grandfather - who died sometime after 1861?
I'm sure there would have been a will, he was from a 'comfortable' family.  My great grandfather, his son, left a nice amount between his three daughters.
All help really appreciated.
Cheers,
Dot.

Canada Lookup Request / Look-up death 1903-1909 Cole, please
« on: Saturday 30 August 14 09:51 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find a date for the death of my grandmother, Maria Louise Cole (nee Mulliner).  I have her in England with her husband Owen Joseph Roberts Cole and 2 children in 1901.  She had another child in that year.
A very helpful Rootschatter found the family arriving in Canada in 1903 heading for Winnepeg.  Later Owen and the three children returned to England and from there on to Australia.  So Maria must have died in Canada.
Any help on this puzzle will be very much appreciated.
Regards,
Ozdot.

« on: Monday 28 April 14 04:29 BST (UK)  »
This has probably been requested before, but I hope someone can help me.  Where can I find records of the Workhouse in Stockbridge, Hampshire - 1881 onwards?  My great great uncle, Joseph Mulliner was in charge there with his wife Emily for some years.
Thanks in anticipation,
Ozdot.

US Lookup Requests / Look-up please on 1920 Census - Mulliner
« on: Monday 28 April 14 04:19 BST (UK)  »
I would appreciate very much if someone can look up the 1820 Census for my great-aunt Charlotte Elizabeth Mulliner, born 1873 in London, England.
I have her still in England in 1901 and then sailing to the US in 1912 on the "Caronia" arriving at Ellis Island in April where she is shown as heading for New Orleans to the Presbyterian Hospital as a nurse.
I would like to know if she stayed in America permanently please.
Kind regards,
Ozdot.

Armed Forces / Royal Marines, 1861
« on: Friday 25 April 14 07:00 BST (UK)  »
I am searching for Joseph Mulliner, born around 1829.  On his marriage certificate to Emily Mary Mills in 1861 he is listed as a corporal, Royal Marines Artillery.  Where can I look to verify this information?
Both Joseph and Emily are shown on the 1881 Census in Hampshire.  There is no sign of him on the 1871 Census so I'm wondering if he is overseas.

All help in this will be really appreciated.
Thanks,
Ozdot.
