Absolutely wonderful. I spent an entire evenig reading them and could hear the accent and the idiom coming through.

I wonder how many more treasures like these are available if you know where to look for them.

If the marriage took place in 1811 you are not likely to find a maariage certificate, as these were only introduced in 1837.

I think you can safely conclude that the church in question is Ss Peter & Paul.

What makes you so doubtful? I can't recall seing a single parish record which didn't contain a father's name.

Yeah, sorry, I didn't look closely enough at the list.

Sounds like you and I are having about the same kind of luck at the moment.

Julia,

I've learned today that BMSGH has a complete set pf records for the period you need. They might prove to be an easier route to the record you are looking dor.

Jane,

I don't think you're reading that right. Please may we have a few more details so we can try reading the address?

You can still sit there and read the microfiche. Unfortunately I didn't have the time yesterday morning. I ended up having to run to beat the parking meter as it was.

The real problem with the microfiche is that in many cases they are all but indecipherable. In those days most people wrote with quills. I reckon the guys who filled in those parish records used telegraph poles.
