The Common Room / Re: Ancestry Subscription
« on: Tuesday 31 May 22 14:59 BST (UK)  »
It seems to be sporadic - some people on the FB group where I'm an Admin get it straight away and others can't get it at all.

I've just renewed my Worldwide subs within minutes of showing as a guest. It wouldn't work on my laptop, but went through straight away when I tried on the iPhone using a browser and not the App.

It is definitely still working as 3 people in the group I admin have used it today. My subs runs out the end of this month.

I have tried all the options above and even used a VPN but cannot get the 50% off or a 12 month subscription option.  ???

It does seem to be temperamental at times. If you have already had a subscription, make sure you cancelled auto renew and that you are showing as a guest. It works better on a laptop. Several people in other groups have had problems, left it a couple of days, tried again and it works.

I think it really goes back to beginners nor realising that hints are just that - hints, and they need to be verified before accepting. They think because Ancestry, Findmypast or other sites have given them that they must be correct and don't look at dates.

Yes it certainly wasn't meant to mock in fact it's something that can happen to experienced people while making changes .

Maybe just remove the word "Hilarious" from the title, then everyone will be satisfied?

Warwickshire / Re: I really need help with my Wagstaff research

Hello again
If this is the Arthur Wagstaff who married Isobel Margaret Young (Grandmother), who then became Jeffery, I would be interested in any information.

The original post is about 13 years old. The OP should get notification if they still have the same email.

Have you tried FamilySearch - I found a lot of German records on there?

There seem to be a lot of people who are getting  "No Find" at the moment. I guess this is because they are using the same system and it doesn't appear.

How on earth did it get so muddled up when it was perfectly alright before? I hope whoever did the big overhaul has been taken to task and more to the point that it didn't come out of taxpayers' money.
