Gloucestershire / Re: Joseph Pool b. Bristol
« on: Thursday 17 February 11 19:14 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks, the Christening at Bristol, St. James does look very good - right year and fathers name.  I have now found it on Family Search (I find that site very hit & miss, probably need to practice more with it).

The place of birth for Joseph on the 1891 census is still a puzzle and I would be really pleased if someone could look at this - RG12; Piece: 4352; Folio: 16; Page: 25  is there anywhere in Bristol that this could be?  If this place can be recognised as in the same location as the above hopefully it will help confirm it's the right record.

Gloucestershire / Joseph Pool b. Bristol

Joseph is a direct ancestor of mine, I have found him through all the census records and have his marriage and death certs.  These idicate a birth c. 1823 and place of birth Bristol, in one census it states Brisol Catry and another Bristol St.James.

His marriage records gives his fathers name as John.

I've found a record on FreeReg for a possible baptism at St.James Church, Camely, Bristol on 12th May 1822,which lists his parents as John and Rachel but looking at Google maps this location seems a bit far out from Bristol to be a positive match?

Would really appreciate some advice/opinions please.

(If anyone wants to check the census he can be found in Luxborough, Somerset and later in Aberkenfig, Glamorgan - I will post the refs. if it would help)

Hi, I don't have the original, the photo was posted on facebook by a family member and I copied it from there, (with the permission of the person who originally posted it and was happy for me to ask for any improvement on here).

I have been able to print off a few which are better than the facebook version so I'm happy with the results.

Thanks to all.

Thanks, there's quite a few people keeping an eye on this, all 6 girls had families and this is the only known photo of them all together.

Thanks to both of you, it does look clearer now - does anyone fancy having a go at a bit of colour?

Could someone help these ladies please, it's the only existing photo of the sister together with their mum, taken around 1915?

Technical Help / Re: Printer with Windows7
« on: Sunday 21 November 10 02:47 GMT (UK)  »
I had the same problem, new laptop  - windows 7 64 bit, couldn't use my printer (HP), had to buy a new one - I'm not too good with computers either, all I know is when I put the disc in for the printer is stated that is wasn't compatible - great. >:(  Got a  new one on "special offer", similar to old one and works fine - so I'm happy.)

Still having problems with downloading census from Ancesty, tried all advice I can find with no result (now having to use firefox, so can get the them but quality is bad) seems that Windows 7 is not that great yet.
