Thank you both for your replies.  I believe both those marriages are for Jabez Fawthrop, who died in Coley in 1846, aged 97.  Certainly linked somehow, but not the father of 1801, I think, but 1803.

There are two Jabez Fawthrops who were baptised in Northowram within the right timeframe:

Jabez Shepherd Fawthrop, born 5th March 1803, baptised 10th May 1803 to Jabez Fawthrop

Jabez Fawthrop, born 18th December 1801, baptised 14th January 1802 to Jabez and Sarah Fawthrop

'My' Jabez is, according to ages on census records, the elder of the two (1801 on the 1841 census, versus 1806 for the younger) who married Sarah Sittle/Settle in 1821.  The younger Jabez married Elizabeth Ambler in 1838.

There is a marriage of a Jabez Fawthrop to Sarah Shepherd on 27th March 1799 in Northowram, which I am assigning as the parents of Jabez Shepherd Fawthrop above.

Can anyone please find another marriage of a Jabez to a Sarah, that would fit as the parents of the elder Jabez Fawthrop (1801)?  A lot of people have the two Jabezes as siblings, belonging to Jabez Fawthrop and Sarah Shepherd, but records show that they both survived to adulthood.

Many thanks!

Thank you for the ideas!  Today is the first day I've been working on Isaac (impatient, I know!) so he is new to me.  I'll have to have a look and see what I can find out over the weekend and who else I can drag in!

Thank you so much for all the info!  The Ormston(e) line are fairly new to me - finally figured out where I'd gone wrong with a different Margaret, so here we are.  You've saved me a lot of time looking these up - thank you!

Hi all,

I am searching for more information about the family of Isaac Ormstone.  I believe he married Ann (Agness) Simpson on 21st May 1795 in Kirknewton and they had the following children:

Frank/Francis 1796
John 1797-1805
Margaret 1799 (my connection)
Elizabeth 1803
Agness 1807

All baptised in Ford/Etal (Presbytarian)

According to death records, Isaac died in 1848, aged 86, in Lucker.  However, I cannot find any baptism records for him, to find out more about his family.  According to the 1841 census, he was born in Northumberland.  Can anyone help, please?

Dear all,

I have been chasing down this line since well before 2005 and have not got far!  The latest post from me regarding this group is from 2020, which is here: https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=837374.msg7027434#msg7027434

I am stuck on William Blake, who was my 4 x Gt Grandfather.  There are the following children baptised to William and Sarah, in Lambeth, in the right timeframe:

William Henry born 11/01/1793, baptised 10/02/1793 St Leonard Streatham (father - Labourer)
Sarah born 06/06/1794, baptised 13/07/1794 St Leonard Streatham (father - Labourer) (possible burial 09/10/1794)
Possible marriage of William Blake (wid.) to Sarah Bening (sp.) 06/05/1795 St Leonard Streatham
John born 26/09/1795, baptised 08/11/1795 St Leonard Streatham (father - Labourer) (possible burial 17/12/1797 at St Mary Lambeth - no age given - residence Prince's Street)
Sarah Ann born 03/03/1798, baptised 17/06/1798 St Mary Lambeth (possible burial 28/06/1798 St Mary Lambeth - no age given - residence Prince's Street)
Thomas baptised 10/11/1799 St Mary Lambeth
Mary Ann born 04/08/1801, baptised 02/05/1802 St Mary Lambeth
Ann baptised 07/03/1804 St Mary Lambeth
Anna born 24/12/1806, baptised 07/09/1806 St Mary Lambeth
Eliza baptised 25/12/1809
Joseph born 28/12/1811, baptised 28/06/1812 St Mary Lambeth
Richard born 06/07/1813, baptised 25/12/1813 St Mary Lambeth (father - labourer, abode Vauxhall) - my 3 x Gt Grandfather

Burial record for a William Blake: 14/11/1817 St Mary Lambeth, William Blake, Abode - Vauxhall Walk, age 44.
Burial record for a Sarah Blake: 23/06/1816 St Mary Lambeth, Sarah Blake, Abode - Vauxhall, age 45.

I am starting to think that maybe Sarah Bening is a red herring?  I thought a first wife for William could have been Mary Bowyer, but the other children were also baptised to a Sarah, so this would not work.  However, I cannot yet find a marriage for William to a Sarah that would fit the timeframe.

Ancestry is suggesting a DNA link for me, to people connected to William Henry Blake 1793, which suggests that they all were one big family.  Maybe.

Any help after the best part of 20 years staring at William would be very much appreciated!

Thank you for taking the time to look this up.  He remains a bit of an enigma.

Yes, his son married Harriet Carter in 1844 and died in 1854.

I'm not particularly familiar with Hampshire/Berkshire, so an unsure where to look further.  :-\
