Shellyesq - maybe looking for coincidences here, and I'm really not familiar with USA marriage certificates... On the marriage certificate halfway down is the certification signing etc. There it has Ada Robinson Emma Smith and the word 'companed'?. Does anyone know what this means or who this person could have been or been recorded for? Am wondering if this could have been her sister? Am I putting 2+2 together and coming up with 5 or is this a realistic possibility?

CaroleW - just re-read and think you're right to order the marriage certificate for George and Mary.

Thanks oldohiohome, lots of great information there for me to add, that's fantastic. Really appreciate your help and the wealth of information you've provided me that I didn't have.

Shellyesq - thank you too for your help. I did not know that Gertrude was a widower when she married. Mary's death had come from a family member but I have no paper evidence. So am open to being corrected as always if there is evidence to prove otherwise.

Northern Geezer - thanks for the tip/link. I've been in touch with the records office for Weobley over the years but not tried/seen the historical society. So will drop them a few lines.

Hi, oldohiohome. Thanks for helping and your time too.

I don't know the exact place unfortunately or how old George Jones was.
I had come across this record just recently from CaroleW's link to family search. This does seem to be a very likely match.

I do have information on 9 of her children:

All born Hereford.

Alice Maud Mary King Wilson b. 1858-d.1928 USA - Wife of Charles Arndt
Ada Anne Wilson b.1859-d. ?
Charles John Wilson b.1860-d.1944 Boone Iowa USA
Clara Elizabeth Wilson b.1862-d.1939 Idaho wife of John Leopold Beager.
Annetta Caroline Nellie Wilson b.1864-d.1932 South Dakota wife of John Estelle
John Uredale Wilson b.1866-d.1928 Illinois
Leah Nora Wilson b.1868-d.1958 Illinois wife of William Henry Enoch Predmore
Herbert Edward Wilson b.1870-d.1950 Illinois
Gertrude Sarah Wilson b.1872 -d. Date n.k. wife of unknown Clarke.

... So the information that she had 12 children, 10 still living could well be correct. These 9, a possible George and Ella Jones and one unknown.

Hope this is of help.

Hi CaroleW,

Thank you for your time and help.

I've looked in Hereford for these children but also have had no luck finding. Have tried Jones/Wilson (1st marriage name) for Hereford also but again hit blanks. As of yet nothing jumping out at me from the USA. Though my skillset in researching census's outside of the UK is very amateur at best.

I'll take another look through via your links. Thanks for sending.

For some reason I have in my mind that I saw something in my research previously that George Jones had died in the UK before they went over but can't be sure of this nor find any evidence to suggest he did.

Hi,

I'm trying to find out if possible when a relative of mine left Weobley to go to America.

Her name was Mary King Lawrence. She was born in Byford, Hereford on 13th October 1835. She was baptised in Byford, Hereford on 18th October 1835. Her 1st marriage was to John Wilson in Hereford 1857. They had 9 known children before John Wilson died in Weobley, Hereford in 1872. She married her 2nd husband George Jones in Preston on Wye, Weobley on 6th March 1873. We believe they had 2 children, possibly more. One possibly George and another Ella. We know nothing of these 2 children nor her 2nd husband George Jones. Between 1873 and 1922 we know many of her children and herself went to Illinois USA. She died in Illinois USA on 17th December 1922.

Any help in finding when she arrived in America and left the UK would be greatly appreciated. It would also be nice to find out what happened to George Jones and/if what happened to any children they had from this 2nd marriage.

Kind regards.

Thanks joger, that's brilliant. Will have a good look through.

Thank you too, jorose. There's a good bit of info to sleuth through there. Does look as though Lambert might have had 2 women in his life at some point.

Kind regards and thanks again both. You've both been really helpful and opened up research avenues.

Hi,

I'm looking for any information I don't have for the Pirotte family of Liege. Possible place names are; Ougree, Jemepne and Hollogne.

Here's what I know:

My relative is Albert George Pirotte b.1919-1973 both Swansea. He married Jane Staddon in 1942 Swansea.

His parents were: Arthur Jules Gerard Pirotte b.1883 Belgium d.1966 Swansea and (m.1918 Swansea) to Mary Butler.

Arthur (above) parents were: Toussaint Pirotte b.1846 Belgium d.1903 Belgium. (M) Marie Catherine Havaux b.1854 Belgium.

Toussaint (above) parents were: Lambert Pirotte d.16/1/1869? Belgium (m) Elisabeth Jolis b?

I know Albert George Pirotte's b.1919 children information but know nothing more than mentioned above, further back in the family.

Any help or information would be very much appreciated if at all possible.

Kind regards.
