World War One / MIC look-up
« on: Wednesday 21 November 12 20:50 GMT (UK)  »
Although I have a subscription to A, I cannot find the MIC for:

Henry Taylor
#9793 Essex Regiment

He died in June 1915 but I was hoping there might be more.

Is A missing any MICs?

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / 1851 census look-up please
« on: Wednesday 31 October 12 13:22 GMT (UK)  »
Trying to find Charlotte Farrow (nee Wright) on the 1851 census - possibly in Shoreditch area.

Charlotte married David Farrow in Shoreditch in 1840 but by the 1861 census is calling herself Mrs Gilles.  In fact she married Mr Gilles in 1887.  She's not with Gilles though in 1851 as he's still with his 1st wife in Uxbridge.

David Farrow died in Shoreditch in 1885 ~ his occupation on marriage to Charlotte was a ?wine drawner?.

I've tried everyone spelling combination I can think off to find Charlotte ~ hoping someone else might have better luck.

Essex / Felstead ~ Lizzie Archer
« on: Wednesday 31 October 12 13:05 GMT (UK)  »
Trying to find out what happend to Lizzie Archer born 1877 in Dunmow district (probably Felsted).  Possibly had an illigitimate son, Frederick Charles in 1899.

On the 1911 census she's with her parents (and son) but after that I can't find her.  I am presuming she re-married as I can't find a death record.

By way of background, Lizzie's mother was Mary Ann WILLIS ~ she married George ARCHER in 1875 and after he died married William KEMP in 1882.

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / 1851 census look-up please
« on: Sunday 05 August 12 20:00 BST (UK)  »
I'm struggling to find David Farrow born c1819 on the 1851 (or 61, 71, 81) census.

He married Charlotte Wright in 1840 at St Leonards, Shoreditch.  On the 1841 census they are still in Shoreditch at what looks like Francis Street ?? Ground.  David died in Shoreditch Infirmary in 1885.  But I can't find him in between 1841 and 1885 and I'd love to know if they had any children.  Have done a search of Ancestry's bapts and can't find any children. Any suggestions appreciated.

Armed Forces / Merchant Navy
« on: Wednesday 18 July 12 21:56 BST (UK)  »
I believe an ancestor served in the merchant navy.  He was born 1867.  Are their any records available on-line that I can search?  Does anyone do look-ups for this sort of thing?

World War One / Help with Regiment
« on: Sunday 03 June 12 21:07 BST (UK)  »
I'm researching someone who was awarded a Silver War Badge: his regiment is shown as 4th R.R. Dns (does this mean 4th Royal Regiment of Dragoons)?

His unit is given as Cavalry: Lancers & Dragoons (Canterbury).

He died in 1941 at a Star & Garter Home.  What was the qualification to enter such a home - does it mean he was severely wounded in WW1?

London and Middlesex / Which cemetery?
« on: Wednesday 09 May 12 21:23 BST (UK)  »
My ancestor (Robert George Willis, b1878) died in 1964.  He died at Woodlands Road, Southall although he did live for most of his life in Ealing.

Would appreciate suggestions as to which cemeteries to search for his burial.

Many thanks
